So i got a new windshield recently. It was a service where they came to my house to replace it. I was at work and my mom didnt ask this question for some reason.. What is the cord thing stickin out of the top left corner and what is it connected to? Its a little, black, half silly puddy egg shell, shaped gadget thing. ha. Probably an easy answer but a quick google search was of no help.

Sorry, no idea. I have an aftermarket rear view mirror with temperature / compass but the wires run along the headliner (tucked) all the way over to the B pillar. I can't imagine that anyone would have mounted anything like that into the window itself ESP. with map light power right there... I'm not sure why they ran mine so far either. Perhaps just following instructions? If yours had similar installed at the same time w prior glass replacement maybe they saw some benefit (at the time).

That's my bet, too. Very common to push the wires into the W/S channel for a neater install. Might also be a pickup for a high-end radar detector. Post a pic, and we'll nail it.
traffic61, you are the man. That is it. I do have a remote starter, and I looked up the part no. on my key fob, and it turns out it is audiovox as well. Im just wondering if i should put it on the shield to the right behind the rear-view mirror, or just put it straight down. Do you know where the antenna is in your wifes car?

On her truck, it sits in the upper left corner of the windshield and the cabling runs down behind some trim along the windshield. It looks like it was originally installed by the mirror, so I would give that a go. I suspect either way would work as long as it gets the signal and it is acceptable appearance-wise.
