Winter is here !

Hi there !

Winter is definitely in full swing in snowy canada. I've been enjoying myself and my 4Runner in the snow for a few weeks and I did not have to dig the Toyota out of anything....yet :).

This morning the thermometer was registering at -28 Celsius, making it very fun to be alive and outside. The truck ( 1990 SR5 with the 3.0 ) started without a hitch, yay.

I did get some trouble from the cold tho', the speedometer shrieks from 12 MPH and up.....LOUD! I know old Toyotas are soft on the speedo cable side of things, is this a speedo cable issue ? Has anyone else seen this in cold weather ? Will it go away when the Ice Age ends or do I absolutely need to replace the part ? How's everyone doing ?

I was about to post on this myself! My speedo does that same thing. A louder stereo helps some tho! ~LOL~

Neither of my shop manuals say anything about the speedo cable (go figure, whaddya expect from Haynes and Chiltons!?) and the local Nappy Auto Parts tells me I don't have one (go figure there too!) I just haven't felt like tearing into the dash yet...but it looks like I need to soon too.

Does anyone have a part number for the speedo cable for a 1990 with a 5speed and no cruise?

63 Beetle ?

Seeeet :D

Anywho the weather here reverted back to earth standards and there is no more undead shrieks comming from the dash. I'll wait till spring comes along and then I'll make sure my "cable" is "lubbed up".
