Winter rubber & wheels

Hi All

Spent the last couple of nights in the threads looking at tire & wheels options. My plans: Pull Factory 20" wheels & tires, store for the winter and replace with; MB Gunner 6 - 17" (machined) with 265/70 R17 Bridgestone Blizzak DMV1 snow tires. Anyone know of any issues that I might run into???? I plan on getting TPS's for the new set of wheels - Anyone by chance have a part number for the wheel sensors? 2010 & 2011 the same sensors? Not really liking the whole TPMS due to cost, but I'm not real crazy about electrical tape over the light at this point either.

Not quite 1100 miles - so far I love the truck. Other than Huskey mats & a winter wheel/tire setup there are no other mods planned, if you can really call those mods.

Anyone know why the big rubber over the last few years? Been drivin for 30 years on 13-15 inch rubber, damn I hate change!!!!! Rant over

I just put DMV1s on a few days ago - using FJ steel wheels.

We've only had a few inches of snow since, but judging by that, I'm unstoppable. No big snow yet.

I opted to go without TPMS sensors. After 1/2 hr - maybe 20 miles - the light blinks for a little while, then comes on solid.

My oem wheels+sensors are stored in my stall in my parking garage, and this resets the light.

Thanks much for the feedback guys. Ordered sensors, rims & tires today. Will post some pics when I get them on. I may have to wait to try them out - heavy rain last 36 hours and our snow is all gone, but Maine is always Maine - we'll get some. Harper, thanks much for the sensor info - saved me some time researching.

A slow trend that accelerated after Ford/Firestone. It's the general idea that more tire load reserve equals more safety. Gives more breathing room when external factors cut into that reserve.

Makes sense, but damn I miss the L60's on Keystone Classics................ I miss 52 cents a gallon gas too!!!
