Wipers noise

Have 2007 SR5, 60000 miles 4runners and I cant figure out why the wipers are making noise while wiping the windshield. I change original wipers, tried 2 different manufacturers, Michelin and rainx and still no change. Does anybody has issue with his?

My wipers were shot and I put on Rainx wipers. They worked fine for a couple of weeks and then started making noise. I eventually figured out there was some type of road film on the windshield. Once I cleaned the windshield the noise went away and hasn't returned.

I just went to a good car wash but I've seen something in the auto parts store that claimed to remove road film from the windshield. I think it was green.

Even a good wipe down with some glass cleaner (avoid ammonia glass cleaners, stick to automotive glass cleaner) will do it very nicely. Also, try cleaning the wiper blade with the glass cleaner as well, it's helped me lots before.

You can use claybar or wd40 as well...

If you have ever put Rain-X on your windshield, it will cause this. Regardless of new or old wipers, it will happen sooner or later, pretty much if you don't keep up with it I believe.

In my case I did use Rain-x window cleaner so that may have been the cause. I haven't put it on since.
