Wiring A Sub And Amp?

-Dont run power + signal wires on the same side of the car
-Do not install the fuse until you have hooked up, and double checked all your connections
-You can go through the firewall where the clutch plate would be if you have an automatic, please use a grommet.
-Ground the wire well (grind all the paint off of where you screw the ring termal down)
-Keep the wire between the battery termanal and the fuse holder as short as possible (always less than 1')
-Keep the ground as short as possible
-Run the remote-turn on wire with the power wire
Its gonna have to run under the trim panels on the floor..just work slowly, take off the side-step things, then the kick panel, then the B-pillar cover, then the rear side-step thingy, then the lower C-pillar cover, and then to your trunk.
You can tuck the wire in just enough that the clips for the panel pieces wont jam into the wires..

If you were to run the signal (RCA) wires down the same side of the car as the power wire for the amplifier, you could end up with alternator whine (it would only come through the subwoofer, and you prob woulnt hear it due to the fact that the sub is a low-frequency, and alt whine is more high-frequency)
If you ever added a speaker amplifier to a system with the power + signal together, and ran it the same way, i can promise you would get alternator whine...

If you are hooking subs up, if you want them on ALL the time and when you turn you'r sterio on, then hook it up to the acc pwr. lead. If you don't want them on all the time run the remote wire to a toggle switch that way if you dont feel like listening to the thump you can shut the amp off without going through you'r deck if it has the option, and I would suggest getting good RCA's. If you hve a sub pre out on you'r deck I'd use it and depending on how many channel amp you have I would use the rear inputs they usually push out a little more juice.
When I ran mine I ran the power wire and RCA's(opposite sides of the vehicle) throught the fire way(power wire), behind the kick panel to under the rocker panel trim all the way back, then up behind the rear trim and then out... if you are screwing to the back of the seat I would unbolt one of the seat mounts, grind the paint off and hook the ground up there, just make sure you leave enough slack incase you fold you'r seat down.

you typically get alternator whine from either bad ground or crappy RCAs.... I used Stinger Hyper series which are directional in a 99 328i... I had 3 sets running down the passenger side and for those of you won't don't know, a BMW 3 series years 99-05 have 2 4 guage wires running down the passenger side. I didn't have a bit of noise.
Use good RCAs... Cheap equipment gets you out cheap but you make the work twice as hard.

Im starting to run wire my t4r but have some questions...
sorry for such amature question, but
1. how do i get the the power wire through the firewall? whats the best approach? just cut the grommet? any special tools. (pics are appreciated)
2. how do you remove the kick/side/molding pannels? just pry, pull, and pray?
