It all depends on what size wire you are running. Typically you can squeeze 8 guage wire through a pre-existing gromet by just jabbing it with a screw driver to make a hole, then pushing the wire through. You can sometimes get away with this with 4 guage as well (depending on experience and effort), but I generally drill a hole and put in a plastic gromet for 4 guage. 4 runners, esp 3rg gen, are the easiest in the world to run wires in and get wires through the firewall. You can easily and safely drill a hole a little above where the hood latch hole is under the driver side dash. You may have to cut back some black foam insulation but no worries, just be careful and use common sense.
