Wiring and Connectors: Can't Find a Thing

Some of the wiring behind the panel under the glove box to the right of the passenger's feet is yucky on my Runner.

I'm not sure what the wiring is, or where it goes to. It may have gotten oily, or wet, or something, just looks like it's going to be gone eventually. I'm going to clean it, obviously.

Where can I find diagrams to know what it is (if it's just speakers or mirrors I'll be less inclined to be preemptive than if it's airbags, for example)?

Also, how would I even go about changing this? Are connectors and wires specific to our model, or do I do a soldering job with appropriate gauges and connectors?

I'd put a picture up, but the wife has the Runner out (most of my free time is when the house is empty=no truck in free time, lol).

I don't need specific answers on what I'm dealing with exactly so much as tips to the right direction.

Take pics for ur self to be able to rem what it looks like b4 u take them apart

Now if it's dirty or wet

Check ur sunroof drain and antenna Rubber plug

U can chk ur ac drain too

I still don't know what the hell I'm doing, but that information is what I needed. Now I can actually find my answers with that mound of stuff to sift through.

I think it might be Rust Check spray, but that's supposed to be safe for wiring.

Phew.

Step one of my project was proper diagnosis (I was doing carpet cleaning as part of major spring cleaning last time and had no more than a minute to look it over), so I got back in there with some electrical contact cleaner.

Good news is that the gunk was dirty Rust Check oil, and not rusty wire goop, and the plastic that appeared ****ed was just melted plastic inserted in the empty holes in the connector. A few minutes with a cloth and some cleaner and everything looks fine.

After looking through the wiring diagrams, I do not want to have to do anything wiring related this lifetime. Good to have that reference material on hand, though, as I also do not want to ever have to pay a shop to do that type of work (I can see the time being big $$$).
