hello,

Need a little help with wiring in auxillary lights that I installed in the rear tailgate. I would like for them to come on with the door opening. I don't have a wiring diagram. If someone could either tell what wires to use or provide a wiring diagram that would be awesome . 1997 4runner sr5 3.4l . Looking to wire off the switch at the rear of cargo area.
thanks in advance,

Matt

Could you post it here? In case someone in the futur needs it ^^? I got a LED feston on my rear cargo area so im fine with it but in case people need to do a similar mod, would be great! (also kinad inteterest to know about the wires in there, cause i want to pass a video wire for my backup camera int he future

So I wasn't able to get my aux lights to work with the manual switch but just wiring them into the two wires going to the switch produced the results I was after anyway. The lights come on when the rear hatch is opened and go off when closed. Idk why you would want them on all the time anyway if the door wasn't opened. The wires were red and blue, I don't remember the tracer colors. The hardest part of the whole job was getting the wires from behind the access panel ( where all the guts for window , latches ,etc ) through the small channel along side the rear window and out the harness hole. I used a coat hanger with wires taped to it but didn't want to go through easily. Was pretty easy to run through the factory harness sheathing between door and body. Hasn't got dark yet so idk how they look yet !
