Wiring help!

So i've got an 87 4runner SR5 that I decided to clean up the wiring on. The previous owner ran a seperate ACC and power wire. (as opposed to using the stock harness ones) The power wire was run to the fusebox by the battery and spliced into the horn fuse, so I yanked it and wired my radio back into the stock harness. Now she turns over, but won't fire. My check engine light doesn't illuminate either, but my oil temp and emer. brake light do when key is in the ON position. Every fuse in my fusebox is good, ist here something I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

On the 1987 models there will be a small black box behind the fuse box under the hood. Take a paper clip and short terminals E1 and T. Now turn the key to the ON position and see if your check engine light comes on. If it is on and flashing, you will need to count the flashes and check them against a FSM or Chilton's manual to see what codes it is throwing.

If you can't get your check engine light to show after doing this, somehow you took the ECU out of the loop when you fixed your wiring.

Thanks for the reply... I did this and got nothing. When I hooked my radio back up to the stock harness, I heard a very subtle tick when I connected the battery wire, so I'm wondering if that had something to do with it. My fan won't turn on either, so it must be something affecting all of these things from operating. Any ideas on where to go from here? How can I check the ECU connectivity?

Off the top of my head I can't come up with anything that would be any help. If you haven't downloaded a FSM for your year I would reccomend checking the EFI section for troubleshooting the ECU. All you should need is a multimeter and a FSM to do 99% of the EFI tests.

Well, I finally figured it out. The previous owner had wedged a spade shaped connector into the ignition fuse and run an ACC wire to the radio, bending the brackets outward, so the fuse itself was fine, but it didn't snap in correctly because of the bend. I simply had to bend the fuse brackets to make it work.

What a pain!
