Wiring plug for 4wd/front diff help

Alright so I’m in a predicament. I have two plugs (red/orange) and blue. I think they are for the 4wd. They are still in the harness coming out of the driver side firewall on the wrecked one. There’s no way to just disconnect them and I pulled out the entire harness but it isn’t just Simple to swap over.

I accidentally cut the line going across the front of the vehicle with plugs to the lights and whatnot so that is off.

Is there any other way I can do this? Extremely frustrating since I’m so close. What do they do exactly? Can I not use 4wd without it? Would doing a manual
Hub get around this?

Did you swap over the 4x4 computer too?A electrical connection to the A.D.D on the front diff activates a valve to give it vaccum pressure to lock the front diff for 4x4.
Here is a way around it...... Toyota Tech: Defeating the ADD System
Might be able to just run a elec switch to it also.

And ya, manual hubs are a way around it but super expensive as they are pretty rare in junk yards . You would need complete wheel hubs,spindles, cv axles, ect ,ect.

Found someone parting out a Tacoma and I willing to part with the complete knuckle axle hub assembly for both at $250. They have someone going look at buying the entire truck Tuesday. If they don’t buy it I can go get them.

That would be a great deal! Pretty sure the CV axles for manual hubs are different too so grab them also.

What year is the 4WD parts truck? What year is it going into? Are they both base/SR5 models or is one/both a Limited?

You CAN pull the harness out or just de-pin the wires from inside and pull them out. That's how I did it on my truck. The wiring forward of the fuse box doesn't really matter and you only need two wires to go into the cab from that side for the ADD system. The White-Black wires go to ground on the fender.

I don't really understand what you are trying to do or what years you arte dealing with. Those plugs go to the 4WD VSV (Vacuum-Switching Valve) on the firewall, which is the heart of the vacuum actuated ADD ('96-'00) but not present in the electric actuated ADD '01-'02. The VSV is located on the driver's fenderwall, and also has two vacuum hosos that lead to the actuator in the diff and two more that supply vacuum from the manifold via the reservoir, which is inside the fender.:

What it does is receive electric signal from the position switches on the diff via the relay (5speed) or 4wd ECU (auto) and translate that into vacuum pressure on one hose or the other to engage or disengage the diff.

Yes, manual hubs would eliminate the issue.

If those plugs are connected, and you have a vacuum actuated front diff, all you need are a check valve, some vac hoses, a reservoir and a VSV (not cheap, but easy to JY source.) As I said, I need to know what you are trying to do, and especially what diff you have.
