if your ever going to put lights on the front of your rack you need to slide it further forward, otherwise carry on, looking to see how this goes..

I've worked with that ABS stuff in the past and just an FYI you can use heat to get some pretty good bends in it.
We would use a basic plumbing torch and wave it near it (don't let flame touch!) and it gets pliable quick.
I've gotten perfect 90 degree bends out of it with no distortion. With practice;-)
It will hold the shape real well. Not sure if a heat gun would work, never tried.
Just throwing that out there to maybe help with getting it formed good around the rack.

Thanks for the tip. The plan is to start the mounting in the center then pull it tight around the sides. Once its mounted i will apply just enough heat to take out the tension.

Josh and Whitson Metal Works are awesome! Spent the last few weeks designing the roof rack for our 99 SC Limited & locked 4runner project that is going to be unveiled at Cruise Moab 2013 on vendor night. More to come on that later! Whitson Metal Works customer service is top notch and the rack was delivered a day early!! I highly recommend this rack to anyone with a 3rd gen!! Pics to come later still need to add some goodies to the rack before its photo shoot.

So I finally pulled the trigger on a full-length Whitson Rack. No sun roof so I had Josh make me a full-length floor.
Shipped last week. Should be here Monday.
Beyond excited!!!
Was going to get a Baja rack but a Whitson is hands-down a better set-up.
I ordered it stock with two cross-over bars.
Question for all...
Should I powder-coat it or Rhino Line it???

i've considered it but really just dont have time to delve into it between racks and trying to hunt down a 4th gen owner for new racks.

Hey Josh,
Sorry for the late response but I finally got around to getting the fairing mounted up.
Here is the front fairing. I wanted to make sure it extended to the roof so that it would provide the best possible aerodynamics possible.
Its a bit rough around the edges but not bad for a first attempt. If I want something cleaner down the road, the hard part has already been taken care of. The zipties are only there because the material is so thin that it vibrated really bad while driving.
Anyways, the bottom edge is flush with the roof and there is no wind at all coming under the rack now driving down the highway. Even if it doesn't look the best, i'm hoping it helps with the mpg a little.

looks awesome! you spent WAY more time fitting yours than i did mine. Mine kills the wind noise totally so i cant imagine yours not doing the same. I still get 20+ on the HWY so you should have no problems. Nice work!

For some reason im getting super low mileage. (Maybe its my driving habits) I know that it didn't really change when I installed the rack. Hoping it will help a little at least. Also hoping it will deflect any wind over whatever is loaded up in the rack.

They are really nice tabs and worked out well for what I needed them to do. My only suggestion is to use something thicker material for the fairing than what I did. To much vibration at speed without adding the zip ties to hold it snug to the tubing. If I do it again I will for sure be using something thicker so I son't have to use the zipties.

It's alot easier to install if you have someone help you lift it to set up top but other wise you can do it yourself

You slide brackets into the factory rails and bolt the rack onto that.
Does the rack come with those brackets which slide into the factory rails? And all mounting hardware? Any mounting instructions?
Can you post some pics of those brackets?
