I have been a little sidelined with my back, but thanks to [MENTION=46025]HokieRunner[/MENTION] for his write up on his fairing and the fact that I am a semi-pack rat I was able to modify my ancient Yakima wind fairing to work perfectly. I just need to make a couple tweaks and take some shots. I am hoping the spinal blocks have kicked in so I can do this today.....stay tuned.....:yo:

If anybody is trying to reach Josh, he might be out of touch for a little bit. His father had a massive heart attack last night in North Carolina. As much as I like the utility of my BajaRack I like the look of these Whitson racks more.

Smichaelq, check my build thread for my rear light setup inside the rear window.

As for powdercoat, I went to a HUGE industrial powder coater and the price was $120 for powder coat and $65 for sandblasting. They were pretty adamant about sand blasting for proper adhesion also. They even chased the threads on the cross bars when it was done.

Back from powder coat... I tried to take some photos to show the fit and size of my particular rack. Keep in mind that it is custom and not the "standard" build.

I actually like that design better, and as I am a painter and haul ladders and such occasionally, it just fits better for me. Lookin good man! :first:

Quality Powder Coat in Carrollton, TX. They are a huge operation. Walk around in the back if you go by and be amazed at the size of their ovens. They were PC'ing 50ft x 3ft diameter light poles, among other things, when I was there.

is that right along I-35E on the west side? if so, then I pass that daily on my commute to/from, but I have never made a point to stop in there... yet

My low profile 4th Gen rack from Josh. Based on the recent road trip MPG, there will be a rev 2 of the fairing that will go all the way down to the roof.
Fit was perfect, Josh did a great job.
