WMW Full Length Rack for 4th Gen T4R's!!

I just sold my Gobi on this forum for $1,000 cash. It only took me a day to sell posting on THIS forum. Bottom line is Gobi makes a great product, it fits the vehicle like a glove and quality is top notch.

Has anyone seen the GB for Gobi recently? There were 113 orders! Gobi is not going anywhere.

Many of you own Apple products and Apple sues people left and right for patent rights. So many of you should never own a Apple product due to this.

The bottom line is I buy what I like and what suits me and the vehicle best. I can care less of the politics going on in the background..
I've never and will never own an apple product. I've boycotted them for years. Android all the way baby!

I can see your point with Apple and this would be like not letting anyone make a touchscreen phone or any other MP3 player. Then suing the guy in garage that made his own. There are a ton of uniball control arms and that's good for the consumer. If the first company who made them specific for fj 4Runner can sue every other company. Then that's exactly what they are doing and I don't think they are going anywhere. But, letting people know will keep them around the same size and not deterring new designers. Hopefully Baja wins

If WMW starts making racks again, I'm saving for one, otherwise I'm going to teach myself to weld and make my own because **** Gobi.

You know they say Fiat makes a solid product, so did Peugot, Ford, Chevrolet, etc etc. But now they just ride the coat tails of their previous success and have slacked severely in comparison to what they used to do. Does a Gobi rack work, absolutely. Is it also a big name. I don't believe that makes it the best? It's funny you mention the group buy, because as I initially warned, they often over promise and under deliver, which is EXACTLY what you are seeing happen. And people are getting the run around again from Gobi. So yes you are right they probably aren't going anywhere, but this doesn't make it right and until people actually see what other options are out there(for as long as they last until the are forced to close) I don't believe GOBI to be the best. Reality is for price and quality a k9 would be more suitable than a GOBI. In regards to your initial comment, if the GOBI was such a great item why did you sell? Just because you got $1,000 doesn't mean you came out on top when they inflate the prices in the first place?

Same here. Never ever ever will I buy an apple. Now their stock on the other hand.... no comment. :)

Apple and Samsung got into it a while back, don't really care who won or lost that one... but same concept.

I sold it because I needed a completely flat rack so I can mount a roof top tent easier, I explained this in my build thread. I had no issues with the rack after 2.5 years old owning it.

I know there is nothing wrong with Gobi racks or any apple phones. Everyone has their preferences. Most base purchases off of a brand name, their experience with the company or the status or attention that owning the brand name brings. Also there is the "you get what you pay for mentality." I fall under all the above.

I love to spend money like most red blooded men and women, but I base the majority of my purchases from what others say, my experience with the company or more importantly the person selling the product in this case. Small companies not only have to sell their product, but it becomes personal and the owners are literally selling themselves. It boils down to whether or not you like the person selling the product more than the product.

I know Josh knew this and so did Gobi. Josh is very approachable and is all over this forum.

Look at Jason B. with Burtman. That guy will answer an email in the middle of the night about how bad FedEx shipping is or a headlight bulb to headers... and Jason bugs the daylights out of his vendors to get better prices for us.

Anther example: I will always buy Niner bikes because the owner of the company, Chris Sugai, responded to an email from me about his website being hacked in the middle of the night....I thought that was really cool of him, so I figured if the CEO is answering the "Contact Us" button in the middle of the night this dude is really committed to his idea and his product.

So when are you going to get you a WMW rack? :)

I know the answer to that! May 16th 2020. Exactly 14 years after Gobi's BS patent was granted. And the day that it expires! We should organize a group buy, to get josh back in business. I wonder if he can build up an inventory and just not sell them, that way the day the patent expires he can take payment and ship them out! I'll have to do a little research to see if this is feasible.

Also in addition to Gobi which is owned by (un)Inteligent Designs 2000, it appears the following companies are also under Paul Badillo's control: Bakron Corporation, and Ralph's Industrial Sewing Machine Company. (also known as Ralphs power sewing machine Inc) Which wasn't started by Ralph at all... but rather Paul's father Raul. And is currently operated by Paul's brother Joseph.

If I'm ever in Denver and need anything sewing machine related, I know where not to go.

Also Global Travel Unlimited Vacations appears to be a travel agency run by Badillo Relatives. If I ever actually need a travel agency, and I don't think I ever will, I will be sure not to use that one.

I explained this in my build thread.

I noticed you only responded to one comment? And sorry I didn't read your build thread? But again not saying anything about the product(just pricing and how they do business) was just defaulting in dealing with the general populous and how they are curbing competition.

WMW isn't coming back anytime soon. I think I've seen at least one person with that prinsu rack, but I can't remember who it was. It's up there on my list of racks, especially for the price.

4RunAmok runs the Prinsu roof rack. Here's his post on getting it.

Yup. I have the Prinsu, and it's an awesome rack!
Drunner97 You need to see it before deciding

What kind of accessory attachments have you found for you AL extrusions on your Prisnu Rack? Do you have the dimensions of the cross bars? Height and width? They look like the standard HFS6 extrusions that misumi, mcmaster and other industrial suppliers sell, but they don't necessarily sell any attachment features that would be geared towards offroading.

The rack is pretty nice and simplistic. AL extrusions and water-jet side plates. Although I wish their website had less typos. They seem to have trouble with the word "their" it shows up four times as "thier" on this page alone: www.prinsudesignstudio.com

Also according to their 4th gen instructions, you need a "knife, flat head screwdriver or other flat figid object" to remove the old rack.
That always is a bit of a red flag when buying something, specially when I notice the typos because I'm not an English professor, I'm an engineer. I just work with numbers.

Would someone be in violation of the patent and face lawsuit if they asked for a "custom" rack from WMW or any other fabrication shop and that custom rack designed by the customer resembled the racks covered under the patent?

In other words, the fabricator in this case would not be mass-producing or marketing and selling it a specific product but instead the rack is a custom unit designed under the direction of the customer.

Would that be something that is considered a one-off or artisan fabrication?

Just curious if anyone knows the specifics regarding the patent law in that regard.

Looking into the AL extrusion thing more, if we could determine the size of the extrusions that they use misumi actually does have some accessories which could be pretty awesome.

For example you can get non-slip covers that fit into the slots so that if you strap down something like a canoe or kayak it wont scratch the rack or the boat. plus give you a little added friction and security.

And I guess the pre-assembly bolts/studs/ and nuts would make it pretty easy to attach anything with a bolt hole in it.

You guys should start a thread for prinsu racks so people don't get confused and think wmw is active, and also later people searching would be able to find info you are providing.
