Wobble and Clunk

Hi All,

I've poked around using search for all threads with "wobble", "shake", "clunk" and have all answers wrote down (LCA Bolts, Swar Bar, Tie Rod Ends), but don't know if my situation is different.

Recently my truck has developed the following situation.
Situation (88,000 KMs):
- When reversing at low speed with steering wheel turned to the left I get an audible clunk from the front driver side wheel well.
- Highway driving wheel wobble from front driver side at about 70 MPH (passing got a bit scary)

I got under the car several times over the weekend and have poked and pulled on all the suspension components I could think of after my Bilstein 5100 install several months ago. Control arms, suspension linkage, etc. Nothing appears or feel to be loose. No wheel weight appears to be knocked off the wheel. Brake pads have adequate depth.

I'm going to take the truck in to my local mechanic this week:
- is there somewhere I could direct him to start?
- do you think these issues are connected or just by chance?


In other news I also have the code P1604 (startability) and B2343 (sliding roof). I'm not having any startability issues, but this is concerning to me.

take the tech on a test drive to show them, you'll want to call ahead though to schedule this and make sure the time works

CV Axle? Youtube "bad CV axle sound", see if its the same sound you have.

Jack that wheel up, then do your poking and pulling. Preferably by jacking under the frame or similar. Let the entire suspension hang completely loose other than the spring and shock.

Wheel bearings may cause the wobble. The clunk sounds like a suspension component

When jacked up grab the wheel and attempt to pull and push from the top and bottom of the wheel. If there is a substantial amount of wobble.... bearings need replaced

Thanks all will try jacking up the wheel and then seeing if I can isolate that suspension clunk. I'm starting to fear it as bushings.

Wheel bearings are sounding like a likely culprit.

Thanks all - solved the wobble with the replacement of front wheel bearings.

Clunk is still there and hasn't been able to be diagnosed by my local shop. LCA bolts are torqued, bushing all look good. Clunk has no progressed to when moving forward as well. It almost sounds like two pieces sliding past each other. The search continues.
