Won't start...No ck engine light....Bad ecm??

have a 2001 Toyota 4runner with a 3.4 v6, auto trans, 4x4. I am in the process of installing a Bulldog remote starter. I got the remote starter in and was haveing problems with the remote recycling after a no start. No bad at this point, just annoying. I decided to try and make the rear window roll down with the remote. When back probing with a power probe to the connector I thought was the window circut, I believe I back probed to the ECM. I am not sure about this as I don't have the correct wiring diagram to tell me what this wiring harness is for. The wiring connector that I was back probing is on the drivers side down by the kick pannel. It has six wires. One is red w/yellow tracer, green w/black tracer, heavier black wire, etc.....when I back probed the green w/black tracer the "check engine light", O/D off light and the "cruise" light all come on on the dash. Maybe these wires go to the vehicle speed sensor and/or trans.

As of now, the truck will not start. Every thing else works. The engine cranks over fine. I have no spark. The "check engine light" does not come on at all. I cannot retreive any codes or get any communication with my Snap On scanner with the OBDII chip in it. I think that this truck has a pass key system, but when we bought it, it didin't seem to work. I have a duplicate key with no plastic housing that would start the truck. Could the pass key system be the problem and working now?

I have removed all of the remote starter thinking that this might be the problem. Still no workee. I have checked all of the fuses that I can find, all are good.
I am hoping the ECU is not bad, but maybe you can tell me if you think it is. Is there a way to test this ECU to make sure it is faulty or not??

First check at the ECU to see if you have power to it.

If i haven't posted it before, autozone''s website really does have a pretty good amount of info on their site for vehicle repair.

If you have power at the ECU, obviously the next step is ground and finally check the circuit for the check engine light. I am guess you popped a fuse that you just haven't found yet.

As far as testing the ECU itself, really only way to do it is to swap it into another vehicle ... look for someone in your area that might be nice enough to be a guinea pig.

Thanks for the diagrams.......I also have diagrams from Alldata but a different one helps. I checked the power to the ecm and have power. I have checked all of the fuses that I could find. I pulled the ecm today and took it apart to check for burnt spots......it looks like brand new.

I am still hoping that it is in the pass key system. The truck started and ran fine until I back probed the six wire connector. Maybe Autozones web site has the diagram for that connector and I can at least find out what it is for.
