working is stupid

No man, you've got it all wrong you hillbilly redneck idiot......we're supposed to be throwing MORE government and MORE tax money at these situations so we can keep the FSA voting for the politicians that keep giving them what they want.:preggers::preggers:

That's the only way to help these people. This is just a bad set of circumstances for this individual....with more government programs (and your hard-earned tax dollars), we'll help her to turn around generations of "learning" how to game the system into subsidizing her entire way of life. Anyone who disagrees is a hillbilly redneck racist.

What kind of lifestyle is she showing those kids as being "normal?" This is why government assistance will never end. That and politician's greed for more votes / power / money / recognition.

These people don't want to work. They want you and I to work for them.

this is infuriating. So many of these government transfer programs reduce the incentive for people to work. Don't get me wrong, there are certainly people who NEED things like food stamps and welfare, but they should at least be required to show some attempt at finding/maintaining LEGAL employment.

The worst:

"I even get to smoke weed"
"Why would I work"
"you're the better person going to work, but I'm getting paid anyway"
"50 dollars for rent" (I pay over 900 in college to live in a glorified closet)
"husband doesn't see the need to work"
"At least I'm a citizen, how about immigrants?" (at least the illegal immigrants actually WORK for their money) this woman is much more of a parasite than an illegal immigrant
"If my kids want to work, i mean that's fine..."

i can't listen to this anymore.

What's the point of this thread? That these people exist? Like its something new? Makes you mad?

What are you 12? Grow up. Stop watching stupid videos and go do something.

One of the Youtube comments that ring true ..

This can't be real. Someone who gets free money all day and smokes weed all day isn't going to get up at 7:45 a.m. to place any type of call, Let alone hold a 7 minute conversation about how they're a piece of sh$t and are going to stay that way. stop buying into bullsh$t

Also ... IN TEXAS ... how long can someone even be on welfare?

Thai should know this stuff. Didn't Texas put in strict welfare reforms? I thought you could only be on Welfare for like 2 years then you were kicked off. :plane:

a simple 2 minute google search shows that you cannot be on lifelong welfare in TX.

She may be on lifelong Social Security Disability ... which is a total disaster of a program in my opinion.

History of Texas Welfare Reform

Under HB 1863, adult TANF recipients are subject to time-limited benefits as short as one year (for the most highly educated and job ready) followed by a five-year "freeze-out". A strong Work First message and the Full Family Sanction of all TANF cash benefits for noncompliance with work requirements has motivated many TANF applicants and recipients to seek employment.

Welfare Reform in Texas enforces the importance of working, the temporary nature of public assistance, and the belief that parents are responsible for the care and well being of their families. Caseloads in the have dropped substantially since 1996, and as a result, Texas received more than $72.6 million in federal high-performance bonuses for effective welfare programs.

Truly amazing.

As someone who works 2 jobs/7 days a week these people make me sick. It's amazing how the these people are reinforcing the belief that if you don't want to do anything it will be okay because someone else will pick up the tab.

I don't understand how these people get away with it? It's really a shame that they are ruining it for the people who actually need it.

And to end this rant, why don't we start drug testing for welfare, if you need to pass a drug test to work and earn money then doesn't it make sense to drug test the people who are receiving FREE money!?

Texas already has a law in place, passed April 2013, that requires drug testing for welfare recipients.

I think you might mean rings clueless..

Never underestimate someone's motivation to continue the taxpayer funded gravy train, unabated.

I did one too:

Fraud And Disability Equal A Multibillion Dollar Black Hole For Taxpayers - Forbes

Here's an excerpt that was written in January 2013 (conditions haven't improved much since that time). I wasn't trying to make this political, but the first sentence in this quote suggests otherwise - please overlook it if you're easily offended:

Since our president entered the White House in January 2009 through September of this year 5.9 million people have been added to the SSDI or Social Security Disability program. That compares with less than 2.5 million jobs created during the same period. According to Social Security Administration data, currently including spouses and children, SSDI rolls have swollen to a bloated 10.9 million. A record one in fourteen workers is now on the SSDI dole. It’s like checking in a hotel and never leaving. Of the 653,877 souls that departed the program in 2011, 36% departed by being gracious enough to die, while 52% reached retirement age and seamlessly switched to other benefits. Only 6% returned to work and 3.6% exited the program due to medical improvement. According to Congressional Research Services this program cost taxpayers $128.9 billion in 2011 and was in deficit to the tune of $25.3 billion. Funded by the 1.8% payroll tax and comprising nearly 18% of all social security spending, at current pace the trust fund may be exhausted by as early as 2015.

Also, a man in Harlingen, TX was found in February 2013 to have more than $7,000 in his SNAP account - that's food stamps. Should he continue to receive those benefits? Harlingen is located in Cameron County, Texas. Cameron County and it's westerly neighbor, Hidalgo County, both located along the US / Mexican border, have more than 30% of their population on food stamp assistance. These counties have a very large retail tax revenue stream given the amount of Mexican nationals that come to the US to shop - where do all those retail dollars go? I'm generally a supporter of food stamps, but a vast percentage of that particular population aren't working/productive members of our society and are likely never to generate an economic surplus for themselves or anyone else for that matter.

Gonna go off on a tangent about food stamps for a second. I have a friend from a wealthy background who is now working at a non profit making about 25k a year + housing and other benefits (read: he has no real expenses since they pay for his housing) but he just got approved for food stamps (through some Americorps loophole where they basically pay you dirt so they allow you to get food stamps) and was eating a 10 dollar burrito at Chipotle the other day. As far as I'm concerned, if you're getting food stamps, you should be somewhat struggling. If you can't afford FOOD you can't afford gourmet food and you can't afford a plethora of other things that I see people piss their money away on like 300 dollar shoes. I dunno, just really didn't sit right with me. I think food stamps are obviously necessary, but, for example, my school which is pretty well renowned and the student body is, on the whole wealthy, suggests to many grad students who seek financial aid to get food stamps. Just kind of an interesting paradox.

Well above I did say that SSD was kind of crap.

And it's worth a note that welfare and SSD are not the same thing. The original post claims to be from Texas yet Texas already has laws restricting welfare to 1 yr on, 5 yrs off. Also Texas already has drug testing for welfare applicants. The video is a likely hoax. Notice they don't claim to be from a specific station or anything traceable.

Well what do you propose OP do then? Just ignore it and pretend that it's not his hard earned tax dollars paying into the system that supports all the abusers?

Regardless of if this video is real or not, it's still infuriating to know where your tax dollars are going. Let me ask you something, would you be annoyed if you walked past low income public housing complexes and find the tenants chilling outside texting on their several hundred dollar iphones, wearing their designer brand outfits to walk their dogs while smoking a ten dollar pack of cigarettes? What about when you go to your local supermarket and see the person in front of you pay for their items with food stamps, and proceed to hop into their brand new gas guzzling V8 mercedes with their "free" groceries?

I don't see why you're so bothered by someone being annoyed at things like this and making others aware of it, unless...lol.

What's far more infuriating is the massive amount of money, over $4 Billion a year we give directly to the corrupt Afghan government, who then distribute the money to local warlords who continue to terrorize, kill and steal from their people. Also the who Islamic Sharia state thing :( that our money goes to pay for.

Good job White House and congress... (Sarcasm)

yes, because there is no way these fine, upstanding, highly ethical and moral people could have found a way around those restrictions.

True, and it's a little harder for me to drive by some afghan ghetto to witness this firsthand. We don't get to see it everyday or even every other day. There'd be a whole lot more outrage in that case if we did.
