World Standard Trans Fluid

I did some searches and never found the answer. I have a 2006 4.0 4runner and decided to keep it. With 36,000 miles it is as good as new EXCEPT! I would like to go full synthetics on Trans, Trans case, axels and motor. While at Toyota service dept. I was told that they would do the motor, trans case and axels but after checking my vin and under the hood, the service writer says I have the World Standard fluid already in it and it is synthetic and not recommended for any change until 100,000. I have never heard of this, have you?

My dealer told me that while they were doing my full trans flush at 55000. I always change trans fluid at 50-60k. You will notice the difference at 150-200k when the trans still shifts fine and like new.

Btw, I just did my kids Rav4 at 50,000 and the WS fluid was almost black. No way I'll ever go 100k on any ATF but that is just me.

"World Standard fluid " as oppose to what, "Local Uncle Earls Magic Fluid"? All there is some dyno 75W-90. And there is no reason why you can't switch to Syntetic. Your service writer is full of crap.

The WS fluid versus the T-IV ATF that was the standard before the WS was released. The WS is backwards compatible.

I was basically told the same thing by my dealer when I requested a transmission flush. I was at about 70K at the time and I did know that by the book the service interval is 100K (and I don't tow or do heavy off road), but decided to do it ahead of schedule. They basically refused to take my money.
The latest recommendation from this year though was that now Toyota supposedly started recommending doing it after 6 years, regardless of mileage.

What does your dealer charge for a complete WS flush?

I went to the dealer last week and ask for a transmissiom flush with 62,000 miles on truck, he said $180.00 dollars. When I told him it was A 97 4runner he said the fluid did not needed to be changed tell 1000,000 miles, it has WS fluid. I said I don't care what type off fluid it has, I want it flushed. he then said it would be $450.00 dollars.I said you must be crazy and walked out.

I was told "about $400" for a WS flush too.
The guy was sleazy and had already tried to sell me a couple of other things I didn't need, so I just told him "see ya" and walked out, but didn't call around other dealers to check...

Saw a TSB (0006-11) today, which states: "100,000 mile maintenance interval - inspection only; ATF-WS does not require any flushing or changing during the life of the vehicle"

I also called a few close dealers, asking for a quota for tran. flush. Got two "around $400" and one $250.00, though I bet the guy was giving me the "drain and refill" price...and I did try to make sure that we're on the same page, but the call still left me with the impression that we were not.

From a different forum - a quote from a Nor Cal dealer for the fluid only "The World Standard ATF(part # 08886-02305) sells by the gallon for $41.60. "

13 quarts then will be $135 just for the fluid.

Man, I'm even more confused now...

When I bought my 4runner the previous owner had a receipt for a flush from indy shop. They put in BG Universal ATF? I checked level using a jumper on OBD to get correct temp, then pulled overflow plug and it just barely came out so I guess level is ok. Looked up BG ATF and it says it exceeds the "WS" standards? Any one know if this is going to be ok. My deal wants 325+tax to flush with WS

WS ATF is $8/quart retail at my dealer.
