Worn out bearing case

I got new driver side bearings pressed on at a shop, but if I push down on the backing plate the new bearings just slide out a bit, so there is no press fit between bearing and backing plate. They neglected to tell me this when they were doing it when I could have bought a new case. I'm guessing this is bad for the rear diff since the axle is able to move inward. When it's installed back in the truck it only moves a fraction of an inch but I can hear the end bang against the inside of the diff if I push it because the outer of the sealed bearing is sort of floating in the backing plate now. I'm guessing this is why I had a bunch of shavings stuck on the driver side abs sensor and diff plug when I took it apart, must have been going on for a while.

If I push down on the backing plate the plate slides down so the bearing becomes level with the edge of the bearing case bevel. The ABS ring is too far down too.

if the tone ring lines up with the sensor, it should be fine.

as far as the bearing in the backing plate, they are not a tight press fit. everything will be tight once its bolted in place.

The ABS light hasnt gone off so I guess the tone ring works all the way at the bottom. The shop had put the on the last retainer all the way down so I asked them to move it up, and the cut it off and made new ones themselves on the lathe which are slightly wider than OE to get a good seal after I explained the bullshit with these seals. It seems to working ok except they bent the backing plate slightly which is making a grinding noise. It only happens in one spot per turn so I think it's rust buildup on the lip of the drum I should be able to clean it out.
