Worst Problem with 5th gen??

The biggest problem is the sparse aftermarket support, though that's getting better all the time.

My biggest problem is a slight design flaw (though Toyota's engineers wouldn't call it that.) That goddamn body mount is in the way!! 35" or 37" rubber would be so easy if it was just a few inches back.

Sorry about the hijack everyone! Complaining about the cold is a national Canadian pastime. I've had many long talks with complete strangers regarding how sack-freezingly cold it is.
 
Front bumper cover side retainers - less than a month after purchase, I noticed my front cover had popped out of place. Took it in and the dealer insisted I had been hit and didn't know it, blah, blah, blah. Oh well, if that's the worst of it, I'll be happy.
 
The worst thing about the 5th Gen 4Runner is that, about every 2 weeks, someone will bump the thread about how the TRD supercharger is right around the corner.

The worst issue for me is the $38k price tag. I got a great deal but 4 years later my wallet is still hurting!:yell:
 
I would say, so far. Rear wiper is slow and doesn't wipe enough area. Also a big +1 for the Sirius/XM reception. I traded in an explorer that I thought had bad reception until I bought the T4R. :bash:
 
my list is when it's cold tailgate struts slow to open compared to other vehicles I've had, trailer socket too far away from hitch so I had to make up an extension, and that's about it.......
 
I've only had mine a few months (2013 TE) and it has about 32k miles on it, but the only thing I don't like is a fairly quiet, high pitched squeaking that I can't isolate. Someone earlier mentioned the body mounts squeaking, and hopefully that's what it is...so far I've fixed it by turning on the radio.... Other than that, I love the vehicle. I had a Grand Caravan before and I was always looking for an excuse to drive my wife's car (Jeep Compass :cry2:). I haven't drove it since I got the 4Runner...

I had it happen before, on another vehicle, a 1984 Ford Tempo to be exact (hey, I was young, and to be fair, that car lasted until 2001). It started on a long trip from Canada to Massachusetts. It DID start with a tiny little star shaped pin crack from a rock that had been there for a while, the kind of thing a lot of people don't even notice. I watched it slowly grow across the windshield...it was really muggy and snowing and I had the defrost cranked at 100% the whole way home.

To be fair, the only other vehicle I own with in glass antenna, is a 1970 Oldsmobile.

THE PAINT. 2 Months and 2500 miles and I have 6 rock chips on my front bumper and hood. 99% highway driving. It hurts to look at it. Should I just buy a touch-up pen and get over it? Such a stupid thing to have a problem with on a BRAND NEW vehicle.

I've been a part of 4 different car forums for different makes(Subaru, Jeep) and all 2013 and newer vehicles seem to have the same problem with cheap thin paint. Is it illegal to make durable automotive paint or something?:redbrick::Cry:
 
On blizzard pearl I get constant rust spots. Happened on a few toyotas I've had with 070 paint, but it's still annoying.

I had a new 2005 Xterra and it was horrible. My tranny never went out since I bi-passed the cooler, but the rear diff exploded, engine vapor locked at high altitude and the suspension bottoming destroyed what was left....Funny though my 2005 Titan has been alright. Now older Xterras are shockingly bad....Xterras cheap, has a way better stereo, more power, better under belly....But those issues killed it for me.

I had the same issue with the 370z I traded. You should be able to buy some touch up paint from Amazon (or your merchant of choice) for about $50. It's really only cost effective after you get about a six to a dozen chips, unless they bother you really badly:car:. I had pearl white on the z and if you match the paint code when you order, you get the pearl mixture and the clear coat to cover the touch up...I would think it would work the same for other paint colors/car makes. I know that's my plan when I inevitably get chips in this paint, since it's the natural result of ...:driving:
