Worth doing head gasket again?

Hello forum.
Due to some kind of blockage in my cooling system, my truck overheated unexpectedly.
It was fine for a while,then on a sudden glance to my temp guage, I noticed a HUGE spike in temperature and immediately pulled over.

Head gasket was already blown by that point.

The issue is, this will be the SECOND time this engine has had a head gasket done, and I don't know how hot it got back then.
It also had its heads sent to a machine shop then.
I know that I got it to at least 250-260+ f since the needle was so high.

When starting it again it runs really well, like it did before the gasket blew.

Are these blocks known to warp?
Could I potentially just get the heads/block checked for flatness and go from there?

How do you know the head gasket failed?

What caused it to overheat? The head gasket?

How do you know the head gasket is blown? Did you do a hydrocarbon or compression test? These engines are pretty tough. What caused the overheat?

I think it's safe to say that any block can warp at temperatures that high. I'm sure you can get the heads checked but it's going to require a tear down, which at that point, you might as well do the HG again or just throw new/used ones in the there.

What's leading you to believe that you blew the head gasket again? And why is this the second time it's happened now? Is there a deeper issue that's not being addressed with your engine?
