Worth the Money?

Ive been contamplaiting getting the K&N Short ram intake for my 89 V6 4runner but don't know if its worth over $300 for 3 horsepower. Plus ive heard if you use them while 4x4ing water can get in them easily. Just wondering if anyone uses these and has had any problems or thinks its worth the money?

Personally, I think the cold air intake is the "cow magnet" idea of the decade.

Not only do they give almost no gain at all power wise, they do n't filter very well either which lets dust, water, and plain old dirt right into the intake.

They're a joke, and a very expensive joke at that.

I read that "scientific" study and found it interesting, I have a K&N filter on my truck and it doesn't filter that great. I glad to know that no oil comes off them though, according to his tests.

I don't think Ill be forking out $400 for the short ram kit, Ill keep saving for an engine swap.
