Worth trying to fit stock 6 spoke (3 split spoke) sr5 wheels with 33’s ?

Doing a bit a research as I’m trying to upgrade my wheels soon to 33s as I’m getting my lift done pretty soon.

Now , I’ve read that the stock sr5 6 spoke (split 3) do fit but will require either a spacer or some cutting as the UCAs will be rubbed.

Question is , is it worth trying to reuse my stock wheels or just invest into some properly fitting wheels with necessary offsets to clear the UCAs ?

I’m obviously trying to keep budget in mind but I also don’t wanna give myself a huge headache.

AFAIK all 16" 3rd gen wheels have the same size. The split 3 spokes will rub on the 231 mm TBU though. You can have problems with the UCA's with 4th gen rims which are half an inch offset to the inside.

I run 33"s on my 3-spoke wheels with 1.25" spacers. If I had the choice, I'd find different rims with a greater offset to eliminate the spacers. Plus, you can't easily run the 231mm TBU.

Yeah Seems like a lot of people just ended up getting aftermarket wheels with proper offset.

Don’t want to rely on any spacers while off-roading as well as the TBU.

For what its worth I am running 80 series Land Cruiser wheels. Pretty nice option as they are still 16" but offer a more favorable offset. They fit the 199 Tundra brakes with very minimal modification. I also like the idea of having an OEM quality wheel.

Don’t want to rely on any spacers while off-roading as well as the TBU...

Don't worry much about spacers whole lotta folks run them and wheel hard offroad get the good ones. TBU does throw a wrench in the spokes though.

I like the look of them. Simple, effective and cheap.

Thoughts ?

I know some people had issues with them being soft but looks like a lot of those folks had the older soft-8's version which is discontinued and also had slightly large size wheels where the tire wouldn't protect it as much.
