Would anyone buy this cement grey

Hi guys, I’ve been looking for a 5th gen for a decent price and I came upon this one. It’s got a salvage title but has been fully restored. It’s at at a dealer and they’re asking 38k

But this is what it looked like before it was ruined. My question, would anyone risk buying something like this and if so what should I ask for? Should I ask for a warranty or Toyota coverage also is 38k a good price, obviously I’ll be asking to lower the price and I’ll negotiate but this is a cement grey so I’m kind of tempted to get it

I would not buy a salvage title vehicle especially for $38,000. No matter what price, restored or not. That vehicle will ALWAYS carry a salvage title and if you decide to trade it in one day to a dealer they will look at the title and give you significantly less for it.

This. It's going to be a blood bath when you go and resell it, specially if you have to resell it soon for whatever reason. Everybody will think there's something wrong with it. $38K for a salvage title, no way!

Make sure the frame isn't bent or twisted. Get underneath it and see if any repair work has been done to it, e.g. patches, welding, fresh spot paint. Ask if the frame needed repair. Ask what kind of warranty the seller offers. Look into what your local laws are regarding buying a refurbed truck and undisclosed safety issues. Test drive it. Feel for any wobbles or steering pull or centering issues. Test all of the off-road features to make sure they work as well as VSC and ABS. I'm sure others will chime in with more details and experience but I would think these would be some of the main concerns.

P.S. I agree with everyone else. 38k is way too much!

F-no. Most of my vehicles are salvage/rebuilt titles, so I'm not afraid of them, but they should be had for 40%+ off.

No way is Toyota going to warrant a branded title

Wouldn't touch it for 8K! I would say it definitely had frame damage by what I see in the photo. Front cross member appears to be rolled up and back. I'll bet selling dealer is not a Toyota dealer. Toyota would not allow a dealer to rebuild and resell a totaled vehicle.

id buy it for 5K tops and beat the heck out of it off roading. 38K is just insane for a salvage title.

That is insane. Buy a brand new one for $44k. Or better yet, get a new TRD Off-Road for $36k-$37k and build it up with far better parts for less money. If it is the cement gray color you are stuck on then just get a paint job!

Save your money, that salvage cement will sit for a while at that price.

For 38k just get a trd off road, find some rims and have it wrapped cement.
Hell I bet you even have money left over for sliders and someone selling a used pro suspension

I bought my 13 TE NEW for less than 38k and it has KDSS and a sunroof.

Pass for sure. I bought my TRD Pro for 42 and I know a few others that paid less. I’d pay 10k tops to beat on it. I totaled a Tacoma on black ice into a jersey barrier. Didn’t look as bad as this 4Runner and the frame was bent.

I've fixed worse than that, and done right it will be fine.
But not for $38K, not ever. That is way too much for that.

They are probably banking on some sucker just walking in and buying it without knowing. I have bought a a couple of salvaged vehicles in the past but they were cheap beaters.

It would have to have almost no miles and Id start to think about it at $20k.

There is no way anyone should pay standard retail pricing for a salvage title vehicle.

Dealer probably paid less than $10k for the salvage title, then repair costs. They're swinging for the fences, and only took on the project because it's a PRO and they know some sucker will buy it. Don't be that sucker. Non-salvaged Pro's can be found used for the same price.
