Yes, I would buy my Shrockworks angled 3 tube, no kick out sliders again. I personally don’t like the look of steps or sliders in general. I wanted the least noticeable slider that would offer good protection. My young son and 5’3” wife use them without issue. I paid a shop $75 to install them. They have done them before and were familiar with the stick nuts. No need to hassle for that price.

I found a deal on a set of NIB ARTEC sliders locally and jumped on them. They were bare steel so I had them powder coated. Bolted right up to the frame, installed bymself. Nice and smooth surface to step on and feel solid, although I did ad some grip tape to keep wet feet from slipping off.

You didn't? Do you have frame holes for all the bolts for the front leg of the pax side? That's where the hole needs to be drilled, at least till 2018.

I didn't either but after seeing what can happen (not strong enough and almost got into the rocker panel), I had a whole second leg welded to the slider.

fwiw, i didn’t need to drill when installing my Shrockworks either (as above: 3 support, no kickout; minimalist). 100% would buy again.

Ive had the Shrockworks step sliders for almost 10 years. Install was easy, powder coat still looks great, rock solid.

RSG Off Road Sliders

Also 100% happy with my RSG Off Road sliders. I went with the 2010+ Toyota 4Runner Angled Sliders **NO KICK OUT** [MENTION=152854]JasonRSG[/MENTION] builds well made sliders.

Did they bolt up effortlessly, or did you have to drill new holes or whip out the ol' dremel.

They lined up perfectly, no drilling or tweaking. Used 2 jack stands by myself.

Do they stick out far enough from the side panels to offer real protection on narrow trails?

I would think so, they stick out 3-4" from the side body panels. Don't rock crawl, bought for protection when on wood trails hunting.

Flat or angled? Step plates on top or open?

Do you think the connection methodology is robust enough? (I particularly like sliders that wrap around the frame rail, vs only mount to one side...)

These are very well made and engineered for strength at connection points. All welds are solid and continuous. do not appear to need to be wrapped around the frame.

Is the paint or powder coat holding up, or can you tell it was poorly prepped beforehand?

Seems to be doing fine so far. Appears to be well prepped.

I went with C4 Fabrication sliders and I love them. Bolted right up. No issues. Beautiful sliders and pretty low profile, but still gives the rig character.

I would absolutely buy my RSG angled (no kick, no top) sliders again. They are outstanding. Not a single complaint other than they should probably beef up their shipping boxes.

I originally purchased flat, grip hole top plate, no kick. Had them on for a couple of weeks but decided I didn't want a step so I reordered. I still have the flat set and really need to get around to selling them. They are essentially brand new.

INteresting.... Did you find your self not using the step? Needed that last extra little bit of clearance?

Can you still stand on the angled set at all? HOw far away from the body are they? I think I much prefer the angled designs, but being able to reach up to the ski box on the roof is still important...

I'm 6'-1" and single. I basically slide right in to the driver's seat. Sliders as steps are a little higher than running boards, so for me it's actually not helpful getting in and out. It's the same for me with factory running boards. If I had a wife and kids, I probably would have been happy with the flat version.

I can stand on the angled version just fine to access the roof. As far as how far they protrude from the body, it depends on where you measure from. The door curves inward toward the bottom. If you measure looking straight down to where the door curves out of sight, The angled version sticks out just shy of 3". Measuring from the bottom of the door where it meets the outer plastic door sill, just shy of 4".

Victory 4x4 Aluminium. Totally yes. Not as easy to use HLJ on (only two places) and bolting them together is surprisingly difficult but totally yes.

I had others before and the weight savings is just too much to give up...

4x4 labs sliders here - 200% yes, I'd buy them again! Protection for KDSS accumulator and lines is exceptional. Though installation (on the driver side) is real pain

Would you buy again?

They are really well done, but if I went again I would probably go with RSG (not available when I got them) or SSO (still very new to the market when I got them) easy install but a better step. I will say they have held up well for the 5 years and 75K miles they have been installed.

Full disclosure, I got them thrown in with a deal, or I was going to go with C4 at the time. A local 4runner owner bought them with a full aluminum skid package during a group buy, but had to sell his truck, so I ended up getting the skids and sliders as a package deal still in box for the sale price of just the skids.

Bolt up effortlessly?

Yes, super easy install.

Do they stick out far enough?

Yes, plenty of protection but would prefer even wider for a better step.

Super robust, have held up well over 4+ years.

Powerdercoat?

Powerdercoat has held up well. I still touch-up with matte black spray paint a couple of times a year. Now its powerdercoat with about 5 layers of spray paint on top.
