Would you risk buying this 1st gen?

I have a 4th gen 4 runner now but it is the wifes daily driver and I really want a 1st Gen. I found this one on CL and not knowing much about the 1st Gen would yall take the risk seems really cheap but dont know the running condition or if it has any other problems other than the sunroof that is mentioned.

Relevant words, "tuff little mud buggy". That truck has been rode hard and put away wet. $850 is a decent deal if the body is straight and not rusted out, but expect lots of mechanical issues, which means a lot of repair to bring that into daily driver condition.

Assuming no major cosmetic issues and you're willing to put in wrench time, it might be worth it.

That's the only 1st gen ad I've ever seen where I was legitimately wondering if it came with the factory hardtop, or if it's just... gone

How much do you know about these vehicles?

How much time/money/resources are you willing to spend working on this?

Do you have a place (i.e. garage) to work on it?

When something goes wrong (which it will, this vehicle is 25 years old), will you be able to afford to have it down while you wait for parts?

These are all the questions i'd be asking myself if I were in your shoes. Although it may seem like a relatively low sum of money now, these things do add up quickly.

The current owner keeps a trashy property, this makes me weary about the general up keep that has or has not been done to the truck. The truck has random items stored in it, it's not loved. I would pass. The only way I'd buy that truck was if the body was clean and I was planning an engine swap. 3.0 and auto? No thank you even if it was a clean truck.

Mud says it all ! But in that area all they have is mud,so assume your dealing with some rust. I can get you more details on it from buddies I wheel with in the area if you like. I would probably buy it 6 or so depending on how bad body and frame are rusting
