Would you work a second job to help get yourself out of debt quicker (car payment, student loans, etc...)?

Does anyone on here work a second job?

Right now I'm the sole provider so yes I would and I am. Two more years and all I have left is my mortgage pymnt.

I don't, but i told my wife that she must continue to work...2 income is always better than 1. It is an added benefit that her job has great benefits! Our debt is only our 4 year old house...and we only have a tiny bit left to pay off. I am going to try my best not to go car shopping any time soon...but it is really hard!!

I want to. My primary job isn't very demanding in terms of time. It is very demanding in that the phone can ring anytime and I have to go. That makes the 2nd job very tricky...

i had 3 jobs for a while, it will wear you out. I am down now to a full time job during the week and working for a VERY upscale resturaunt nights and weekends. its a lot of work but things will calm down after i get my financial status straight.

Best part is, when you work so much you have no time to spend your money except(for me) online when i get off work at 2 am on random things. and it will keep you out of trouble if your younger. I was driving home new years after work at 3am, hit a DUI check point and felt great that not only was i sober but had 2 drunk friends in the car and a pocket full of money from working allllll day.

to me its rewarding.

Second Job


I work anywhere from 55 to 60 hours a week at my 'regular' job, plus I am a single dad.....so a second job is pretty much out of the question. In this economy, I suppose it is better to have too much work than not enough.
