Get the Grabber AT2 tires. They are just like the BFG ATS but cheaper. I have run both tires without issue. The Grabbers are quiet and still have great off road capability.

Don't get loud, flashy mud tires. They are usually unnecessary and look really bad once 1/2 the tread is gone.
 
I just bought 5 sequoia 17" rims so I want tires on all for around $1000. As far as tire I'm open to suggestions as well as size
 
Toyo Open Country A/T. Very aggressive looking tread and I got close to 90k out of my last set bc I rotated them every 3k miles religiously. I'm now on my second set. When the time comes, I'll get a 3rd. My f-250 is on its second set of these as well.
 
For that price range you will most likely have to look for an AT. The Nitto Terra Grapplers are supposed to be great as well as the Yokohama Geolander ATS. These will be more in your price range for 5 tires under $1000. Definitely go with 265/70/17's if you are still stock and don't have spacers for the Tundra rims. You can also look into Falken Wild Peak AT's. A lot of people like the General Grabber AT3 or AT2.
 
I do have spacers i bought them with the rims and also i believe the guy before me put in a 99 suspension setup but not quite sure. I believe the spacers are 1" or 1 1/4" everything is still in the box.
 
With the Toyo's I know you can get 5 for 950 at a shop here in Dallas. The same shop sells the Falkens but has told be not to buy them. Not good for business but I don't think he tells everyone that. The nitto grapplers are also very good tires from what I here, no personal experience though.
 
I ran the Nitto Terra Grapplers for 56k and they performed very well. I was on a budget and just had to replace them lat week. I would have run them again but price has gone up a lot. I chose to go with a tire that came out in the spring but all the off road magazines are giving it really good reviews. I went with the Falken Wild Peaks in a 285/75/16. So far they are performing well on the street and will give them the offroad test next week at a Wounded Warrior event. We are going to be taking approx. 500 WW on trail runs all through Big Bear area.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of these three tires and should be close to your budget, Nitto Terra Grapplers, Falken Wild Peaks or the Yokohama Geolander AT/S in a 265/70/17.

Josh- the Falken High Country is garbage and has very bad reviews and go bald quickly.
The Falken Wild Peaks have received great reviews and so far everyone I have talked to likes them a lot. I just put a set on my truck las week and happy so far. however they are still new(only out since April) and havnt had the chance for long term review. I hope they end up as good as the reviews.
 
I have about 3,000 miles on my Terra Grapplers and love them so far. Just returned from a road trip with them and were awesome on the highway and in heavy rain we encountered. Did some light trail running with them and performed well there too. For an aggressive AT tire, they are not noisy. Just my opinion...I also considered the Falken Wild Peaks but went with the Terra Grapplers based upon reviews and Discount Tire's experience with both. Good luck man. Can't wait to see your rig with the Tundra rims and new shoes.
 
The beast is in the shop getting its new shoes to bad those b******* at discount tire can't mount on my spacers. Oh well just another project. I'll put up pictures later
 
Finally it's done and I'm happy with the look. What you have all been waiting for the picture.

Now I need to lift it and do my brake upgrade.
 
So I Found a good deal on a Sonoran steel 1.2 setup I paid $700 for the whole setup and I plan on ordering my tundra brakes so I can put it all on in the next few weeks

That's good to know. Keep us up to date on how they perform over the next 30-40k miles. Hopefully Falken has learned how to make a quality product. Especially since they are at a cheaper price point.
 
Champ, thank you for enlisting to protect U.S. I appreciate it along with the rest of America as well. I don't have much technical knowledge to share with you, but what I can say is that your whip is seriously looking solid! I wish I knew how to install fog lights or even a sound system for that matter. Keep it up man, I can't wait to see more pics! Take care fella
