Wrenchathon in SoCal ???

Hi everyone, I will be receiving my Cornfed lift for my '06 4Runner early next week and was hoping to getting them installed that weekend. I do not really have the tools, garage or knowledge to get this done. I was wondering if anyone is willing to help me out? Maybe we can have a small meet where several members need help getting things done? I'll provide all the food and beer for any helping hands. Thanks.

EDIT: It's finally been decided, we will be having the wrenchathon this Saturday, starting early in the morning. PM me or Bala De Plata for directions.

Where are you located. I'm in Agoura Hills. I have the air/power/hand tools and garage if you need it.

I'm located in Irvine, but don't mind traveling to the LA area. Agoura Hills is pretty far though (especially with gas prices these days). If I cannot find a closer location, maybe I will take you up on the offer. I will let you know asap. Thank you very much for the offer.

Count me in too!

I have a cornfed spacer lift as well that I need help installing.

:)

I'll bring the pizza!

:D

I don't have a lift kit yet, but I do plan on getting one in the future. If you guys don't mind, I'd like to tag along and watch...I've got a compressor, air tools, hand tools, etc., just not a garage to do the work.

Yay, I received the kit from Cornfed yesterday. Now we just need to pick a date. I can do any weekend except for May 13-14. I would prefer the earlier the better, but we'll try to pick whichever date works best for everyone. Let me know when you guys want to do it.

Do you have a large driveway to work out of? A open parking area will suffice. Usually only need 2 parking spots as you'll have bodies everywhere.

If you do it on the 20th (sat), I should be able to drop by in the morning only though. Figure if you can find enough souls to help ya out, you should be fine.

You'll want some floor jackstands and a jack along with the basic hand tools.

Things that you'll need for the install (available at autozone):

Cotter Pins (get the multi sized pack that has 10+ in there) - few bucks
Tie Rod Puller - free rental w/ c/c deposit
Floor Jack
Floor Jackstands (atleast 2)
Hand tools - LOTS - metric pref
Air tools - icing on the cake

Location will be key as you'll want ample space for people to help out. I've seen people do installs in an open parking lot but I don't know what the implications are so find out asap.

Good luck

Okay, so this is the weekend when hopefully we can have the wrenchathon. I'm still looking for a garage/place to do the install. If worse comes to worse, I'll ask my friend to use his garage.

Expat - we'll let you know if we still need your place. I don't know if everyone is willing to drive to Agoura Hills, especially with gas prices nowadays.

snap315 - can you still make it and have your Cornfed lift installed too?

Hank - can you still make it? It'd be great if we can borrow your tools.

Good Times - can you still make it? It seems like you've got the most experience and knowledge, so your presense would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck, i did the spacers first, then an OME lift. I am done working on 4runners for a while. No matter what i do, i always get frustrated start screaming at the truck, then i need a  it always a 2-3 day event at my house.

I think I could host, I'm in Santa Margarita. Got a big garage with driveway and a kick ass set of Stanley wrecnhes. My buddy and I did my 4r and his tacoma with the daystars in one day. He had all the knowledge and jackstands, but I did the work mostly. Anyway, let me know if your intrested. Its worth it to me just if Good Times comes over. Ive been following your truck since before I knew about this forum.

It'd be great if we can do it at your place. So far, Good Times isn't positive about coming out yet. Hopefully he does as everyone would love to meet him and see his ride.

Bala de Plata - Just to make sure, you are located in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA right? There's another city by the name of Santa Margarita in California, but that's up north about 4 hours from Irvine.

Let me know the details for Sat. I might make it to lend a helping hand. I got a torque wrench and craftsman tools.

Yep, Im all good on my end. I will PM JMT with my address and phone #. What time are we talking, dawn patrol or hang over time:beer:

I have a wedding reception to go to that night, so I'd prefer the morning-afternoon. I need to be done and gone by ~4:30. Is that okay with everyone?

This seems like it'll be lots of fun. Can everyone that wants to go let me know so we know who to expect and how much booze I need to buy for you guys.

I got into a problem installing the Cornfed.

No problem with the kit... my mechanic messed up the XREAS.
