Wrenchathon - Orange County, Ca

Off roading newb from OC too

Let me know when you guys plan on doing a wrenchathon. I would like to watch and learn and lend a hand at the same time. I plan on upgrading my suspension too.

I was thinking about taking the 4x4 training myself. I heard that the classes were pretty good.

I was thinking of the one at Gormans (Badlands off roading). Probably the $160. I think that should be good enough for the time being. I believe the min is 3 trucks and the max is 10 trucks

I am in Orange near Angel Stadium

yes it can be overwhelming but it's really not that bad. if you can change a flat tire, you can easily add another level of difficulty by changing your suspension. There is nothing wrong with being super cautious about doing anything to your vehicle (even if you don't have kids). Though I don't have kids I'm super cautious about everything I do. Doing it with other swill definitely make it easier on ya too.

On a side note, if you guys want to meet up with some other Toyota owners, UltimateYota.com is hosting an event next weekend in Pismo Beach (Oceano Dunes SVRA). If you have time, definitely drop by and say hello. You'll see a wide variety of Toyota's there (52 vehicles registered). It's a family based event filled with events for the kids too. Stock vehicles including 2wd are highly recommended. This will be a great opportunity to meet and greet everyone and just mingle and learn to wheel in soft sand :)

So how was Pismo?!?!?! What was the actual number of the T4R's? I really wanted to go (even just for a day) just to check out all the rigs and to meet fellow members/T4R owners but couldn't cancel my plans. Oh Well, hope you all had fun!:D
 
Lance has offered his services

Ok OC guys and gals. If anyone local (oc area) would like to get together to install parts or basic maintenance Lance has offered his services. If you dont know him, Lance (Chaos Edition) is in my mind a pioneer in 4runner modifications. I myself respect his knowlege greatly and appreciate his offer to assist in this wrenchathon.

Lance would like me to set up this time so if anyone is interested, please PM me.

Shooting for the beg of January

Guys,

We are shooting for the beginning of January. Does Jan 5th sound good? This is the first Saturday in Jan. If so, Ill pass along the info to Lance (Good Times).

I have the 1" spacer lift just to level out my 4unner. Ive heard adding a spacer in the rear does add some "harshness" to the ride.

If time permits, maybe a can wheel locally the following day.
 
Yeah I think I'll just add the 1" leveler. Easier to deal with the stealership if I don't mess with the back. Disconnecting everything sounds like a pain anyways. Have you only ordered yours, or have you installed it yet?
 
i'm in... i can lend a hand i guess. i did the install myself, but it was done at a garage.

lift installs are straight forward.

anyone done a rear diff breather install/mod?

Ive had my lift for several months just never got around to installing it.

I have not done the breather install but am interested. I was also thinking about the oil filter relocation mod. I would make changing the oil a whole lot easier
