HMMM....ok. The other day i posted about my new tires rubbing on the front.(compressed and turned) Come to find after staring at it for about 2hrs, my drivers side front tire sits closer to the fender than the passenger side. I measured every angle, only difference is the drivers side sits about a 1/4" lower, but between the tire and the fender(rear well by door) it is about 1/2" closer. Even if it were up that 1/4" it would still be closer than the passenger side. I have no idea...stumped! Is there an adjustment or could something be bent a little bit to make that wheel sit back. Or could it be something else? I don't see any damage or bent frame/panels/welds.

IDEAS??????????????????????

if its old suspension it can sag where most of the weight is at most of the time (driver side)

Might just need an alignment. If you're gonna get a lift, you'll have to get it aligned anyways so I would probably wait till it's on. In the meantime it would be wise to bring it to a shop and make sure the frame/steering/control arms aren't bent.

What he said^^^^^^^^ im having a hard time understanding what your refering to anyways. Too much Old Rasputin i guess X )

That is the only thing i could come up with is the control arm is tweeked just a bit and pullin it back. Only lift i got comin is the BL and it'll be here friday. That will fix the rubbing but if it's outa wack then it needs fixed anyway. I'm sure sometime in its past the owner nailed a pothole!!!!!!!! Tomorrow i'm going to square it up, make sure all four wheels are the same distance, if they are, then its the fender and ill just trim it, if they aren't...then i got bigger fish to fry!

I fit makes you feel any better, mine is the same, but opposite. My p/s tire is 1/2 inch closer to the mud flap (which is where it rubs) than the d/s. But I have had an accident on that side so it could be from that or the non oe fender that was used when repairs were done.

FOLLOW UP daylight makes things so much easier to see...i'm pretty sure this could be my issue! the damn thing is broke off.

That is a sway bar link, just in case you don't know, and they are not related to the location of the front suspension and hub components. That will not be the cause of the 1/2 inch variation.

Where that may have an effect is it will allow greater wheel travel and may let the tire get closer than it would have otherwise been. The other side may not be rubbing because it is still restricted .

sounds bout rite if i saw that apart i would be a lil worried lol but to fix somethin like that is cheap huh?

thats my conclusion exactly! the passenger side is still holding firm, ther driverside is not so it is not tied in with the passenger side. as far as it sitting backa lil further, still lost, all is square. just the fender i guess. but im on the way to get new links now.

My front driver side tire sits back almost .5" further than the passenger side does. I only noticed this when I installed the wheel spacers which brought them out past the fender some. It would rub on the fender and the end of the slider when cutting hard in reverse. I had to trim the driver side rear wheel well more than the passenger side. I did a 1.5 body lift, thinking that would totally fix it, but it still rubs on the end of the slider when cutting hard in reverse. I am now going to move my slider back .5", and hope that solves the problem, especially if I am going to move up in tire size down the road.

I would measure the position of the tire against some other points on the truck other than the fender. Maybe your fender isn't quite straight.

I had creaks, pops, thuds, and every other kind of sound coming from my damn sway bar for years. Tightened it up, got new bushings, got new links, tightened it up again, new link bushings, thightened it up again, greased it, thru-bolted the brackets, etc, etc, etc... Pain in the ASS! It finally broke on the trails and thank God - it's staying off and no more sway bar bullshit to deal with ever again.

Any ideas as to why they sit back a lil further???

thats what im about to do, i was on my way to get new links and i decided that i didnt really need the swaybar. im not doing racing and im not runnin from the cops so i really dont think that its going to effect me that much. did you notice any real difference when driving on the road?

My front end dips a little more on tight turns, but I got used to it in 5 minutes. It improved my travel and it made my suspension a little less stiff too so I like it better. Some say their tires rub w/o the sway bar, but mine don't (my 1" body lift may help with that though).

good deal. my 1" lift will be here on friday.

My tires rub more when the swaybar is disconnected. Check to see if it is actually a difference in the wheel position or the position of the fender. I had a slight difference between my fender clearances that disappeared when I trimmed and pounded out the pinch weld in there. If you drive any hard trails, I wouldn't worry too much... your fender will get bent up before too long. :guitar2:
