I am in need for an ECU out of a preferably 1998 Toyota 4Runner with a 3.4L. I found a few online, but they are upwards of $500 which is ridiculous. I am willing to spend about $200 for one if someone is parting out a car. I have a transmission and all the other parts for a manual swap, but I could not take the 1997 ECU.

1998 is very rare, and the Manual ECU's are highly sought after. Most people won't separate from the wiring harness.
I did a quick search on car-part.com and I could only find 5 in the entire USA for a 1998. I parted these things for years, and never once had a 1998 with a manual. They're that rare, and expensive. You might get lucky and find one of the wreckers on car-part.com that don't know what they have and will sell cheap. Give them a call, the worst they can do is tell you what you already know.

Also on Ebay there are only TWO ecu's currently. One is $399, the other is $329. You are looking for part number 89661-3D360, 89661-3D362, or 89661-3D360-84
