WTB: 1999-2000 5-Speed, $8-15k Budget

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice truck but with 300k miles it's only worth more like $8k - 9k at best. He's trying to get the money back that he spent on the suspension and supercharger.

I paid $7k for mine here in CA, no lift but had 100k less miles. It's an auto though, but you can find 5 speeds for sale in urban areas more common because people hate commuting in a manual.

Thank you for the replies, there are 2 other manual 4 runners for sale in Las Vegas.

They want $9500 for this:

Yeah, I agree that everyone has a price. I guess mine would be high simply because I don't know what I'd replace it with and I would want that if I ever was asked to put a price on it.

Well, I guess if that one is $9,500 then the $12k w/SC and 7th injector isn't too far off!

That 2nd one is pretty amazing. It does look like he did a pretty good job masking it off for whatever that's worth.

Time of year makes a difference too. Right now tax refunds abound and people are looking for a toy to play with over the spring/summer. I bought mine in the fall and there was a lot more inventory to choose from.

I would hammer down your MUST-HAVES from your WANTS and expand your search area. If there's something very specific you want (like a 5-speed) then try including nearby areas like LA, Phoenix, Flagstaff, etc. or whatever other urban areas are near you. I see 4Runners pop up in Reno that are decent from time to time as well. I though about it and I was thinking, am I willing to drive 6 hours or so for the perfect 4Runner? The answer for me was yes, so I started searching farther out.

I searched for 4 months for a 96-98 with a TRD supercharger. I also wanted a 5-speed but realized finding a 5-speed with a SC was very rare and when they did pop up people were asking way too much for it, like that first post at 12k.

Agreed, I bought my Limited around Christmas, no one was out looking for 18 yo trucks in the snow. LOL
 
Weird stuff does happen, I know of a runner that the owner got for $1500. Has a 5spd and sc. he has of course upgraded things, it is a really cool rig. I’d look in retirement areas and bedside communities as well as urban areas. Sorry you lost her, I know the pain of losing a clean runner. Safe travels
 
If I was buying today, I'd probably be looking for a nice lockered FJ80. They're a bit bigger (might be snug on some trails) and use a bit more gas (and even more when modded) but that solid axle just makes things so much nicer and easier.

Wow! wide range of info here... Jus curious , whats wrong with a 96 - 98 4runner???? Also , I have grown suspicious of many low mileage 4runners?
