Been in love with the 3rd gen 4runners for a while, and looking to trade our VW Jetta (black 2001, 107k miles, $2000 - $2500 dealership trade-in offers) for a 4wd runner. (Can pay cash even if you don't want the Jetta, but wanted to put it out there.)
Just rescued a new German Shepherd puppy so if your rig is a current dog-hauler, all the better. This is not going to be used for any serious wheeling, but we are avid backpackers and need something that can get us to the trailheads and back.
Everyone on here says the tall-springs '99 highlanders or the 00,01,02 sport editions are the ones to get. Not interested in limited models with the leather seats -- we like the cloth ones.
