Check open box items on amazon, sometimes they were pretty cheap. Also are you sure its not the solenoid valve ? It is replaceable for around 40 bucks. Fixed my p0441.

Only code I've been getting has been a P0446 picked up from my ultragauge. Replaced the gas cap, no fix. Figured the canister may have gone bad, so I thought I'd try another used one to see if that fixes it

You should definitely first go under the car and check the valve. there is a connector there just put a battery to it. if it doesnt click, like mine didn't no reason to touch the canister. Actually mine wasnt even a valve anymore after the rust got to it. you should not be throwing parts at this error code. it can get really expensive, Just my 2cents.
