WTF is the difference!?

Called my local steel supply place today, after doing some research.

Here's what I found out.

14ga steel is .0747"
3/16" steel is .0625"

From my local supplier:
14ga steel: $62
3/16" steel: $119


WHY THE HELL IS 3/16" almost 60 dinars more?!?!

The 14ga is .0122 THICKER than the 3/16".

BOTH are Carbon Steel, both are 4x8 sheets.


What's the damn difference?

Help me out.

1/16" is .0625"

3/16" is over twice as thick as 14 gage, so it makes sense that the cost of the 3/16 is about twice as much.
