Sup yall,

Man has it been a while, but new job/moving in with the girl/riding the bike takes up time Anyway, got some problems here:

She is throwing off codes and the dashboard lights are showing both TRAC warning lights and ABS light. The problem just started on Sunday. And since I disconnected the battery from the terminal to try to reset the ECU (to no avail) and re-connected it, the driver side one touch window is no longer one touch. How do I fix that?

So, any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks brudda

Could be an Oxygen sensor. My '04 went through two of them on opposite banks. There are 4 in the vehicle. Once it goes, it throws all kinds of lights up on the dash and disables the VSC/TRAC. Take it to a dealer, you should still be covered under warranty for these.
 
Yea, I was reading around and on a couple of threads and that was a possible problem for some guys. But here's the rub, I am at 38k and the warranty ends at 36k. So, it def won't be covered under warranty. How much do you think they go for if I do it myself?
 
I don't remember the cost off the top of my head, since mine failed under warranty. I think they were about $125 per sensor, and with the V6, the install wasn't bad. The only thing is that since there are 4, you have to figure out which sensor is failing. I know the ECU can tell you, but I don't have the equipment to read it.
 
Hey Drew...not sure about this, but those might be considered emissions controls and I believe the emissions are covered by a longer warranty. You might want to check your warranty book. As far as resetting the one touch feature, you'll have to reset the driver's window, rear window and sunroof too. I had to do the same thing. I don't recall the exact directions, but they're in the owner's manual. If you can't find them or don't have your manual, let me know and I can get them for you.

You'll need to reinitialize the driver's window, rear window and the sunroof (if you have one). Roll the window up and hold the switch for 5-10 seconds then roll it down and do the same thing. Do the same thing for the sunroof and the rear window and you should be all set.

Sup bro. Long time no speak. The funny thing is that the sunroof and the back window are still all one touch. I'll just work on the driver side.

The warranty is the standard 36k one. I'll call up the dealership where i got it from and see what they can do about it. But to be honest, this is the only issue that I have ever had with her (knock knock) not bad for 3years and over 36k miles.

The front two O2 sensors are about $ 155 a pop and the rears are $ 122/ea. If you buy them from partznet.

But the ECU codes will tell you which one(s) need to be replaced, if that is the issue?

Oxygen sensors are known to be a fairly common problem with most motor vehicles made. This is because they are in one of the worse environments.

Of course the dealer will nail you for about $ 70 to check the codes.

Since you are over 36,000 miles, then I believe you are on your own. I believe only the Cat is warrantee for 90,000 miles.

Advance Auto Parts used to provide a free diagnostic reading, and I think some other auto parts stores may do this as well. Maybe this will help you figure out what's causing the problem.

X2 on taking to an auto parts store to get codes read for free. Some will loan you the reader if you leave a deposit.

I've had problems on my Jeep with pre catalytic converters taking out my O2 sensors twice. There is a Federally mandated warranty for 80k miles on emissions equipment. They fixed my Jeep at 34k and again at 68k for the same problem. It's worth a shot.

I've also seen O2 simulators on the internet. I've never talked to anybody who has used them, but it beats replacing O2 sensors all the time if they work.
 
Hey Drew, how is everything? Glad to see you back around here! Don't forget that the dealer will also get you for labor to install the O2 sensors as well so it will definitely be a costly repair. How much over 36k are you? Maybe it is time for another tech meet! :D
 
Well, you are all right. I can't possibly come up with an excuse for my absence, with the exception of being a jerk off. Anyway, I have a friend that works in the warranty dept. for Toyota, so he is going to get me in to see what the dillyo is.

So, after I went back to my mechanic (b/c the check engine light came on along with abs and both traction control lights. Now my dashboard looks like an efing Christmas tree) the latest diagnostic said that the o2 sensor in bank two sensor 1 is bad. For a re**** like me, is there anyway to check to see if it is just dirty or something or is there no way to find out unless you buy a new one?

And if I buy a new one how hard is it to install?

You know with the check engine light too could it be a vacuum line to the power brake booster or a loose connector at the master cylinder? I mean how does an oxy sensor turn on a brake light?

You know where the master cylinder is, where you add brake fluid. Behind that master cylinder is a flat round can like thing (the power brake booster) right against the firewall. It has a vacuum line to it. Anyway its worth a try!
