The passenger doors all have them. It's so the rear seat passenger can get out. I've had my "new" 1st gen about a month and my 11 year old son noticed it the first night I brought it home. I love all the quirky features these trucks came with.

I just noticed that you recently bought your truck. Do you have a factory service manual? I'm going to post a link. Let me know if it doesn't work. Here's the link I downloaded my '88 manual off of.
It's about 1700 pages. Hope you have high speed!

Both my wife and I have had that ??? moment since we bought our '90 2 door. It's the kind of thoughtful design that has propelled Toyota to the top of the auto industry. Other features I like on my 1990 are the neat little small change holders that let you find a quarter without trawling through an ashtray full of change and perhaps my favourite; the heater setting that blows air on the windshield and your feet at the same time!

My regular door opener does not work and I love telling passengers " use the other one", sure get some confused looks.:frisky:
