Xenondepot H11 LED Headlight - Good compromise

Ordered and installed the xenondepot H11 LED lights.

After installing the Auer Automotive 2in1 DRL/Fog LED combo kit, my stock headlamps looked a sickly brownish yellow in comparison to the Auer's. Definitely wanted to upgrade or at least get a closer white match to the DRL/Fogs.

After installing the XD LED headlamps, very happy with the results. Now I had read Paragon1's thread comparing xenondepot's HID to the LED and the stock. Great informative thread http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/203360-xenondepot-hid-vs-led-initial-photo.html.

I had also read the debate on multiple threads on HID's and the 5th gen projectors. I had some concerns as I did have a lot of people flashing me when my FJ Cruiser had HID's. But I have no dog in that show so if people prefer the HID's that's their choice. But for me, seeing into the next zip code wasn't as high of a priority since living in SoCal, we don't get that much inclement weather. My only goal was that the headlamps match in color to the DRL's and that reach and spread aren't compromised. After installing I'm very happy with the results. For $120, these look better than the hid wannabe overpriced halogen bulbs while I can expect a much longer bulb life.

Looks great! I have been going back and forth whether to go with the XD Phillips 4300k HID, or this XD LED Kit for my low beams.

I'm almost leaning more towards the LEDs since 1) longer bulb life. 2) lower power draw (since I already have a lot of lights/audio going to the battery) 3) low temp/no ballasts. 4) Instant turn on.

I figure that if I really need more light, I can just flip on the flood lights or spot lights.

Looks great! I have been going back and forth whether to go with the XD Phillips 4300k HID, or this XD LED Kit for my low beams.

I'm almost leaning more towards the LEDs since 1) longer bulb life. 2) lower power draw (since I already have a lot of lights/audio going to the battery) 3) low temp/no ballasts. 4) Instant turn on.

I figure that if I really need more light, I can just flip on the flood lights or spot lights.

I did take some pics but front shots of headlights never turn out well getting all washed out from the beams. I'll try with another camera to see if I can get a more accurate depiction of the lights.

Doesn't this become an issue in the winter and/or when driving in snow?

I may be wrong, but I don't think LEDs heat up enough to melt snow and ice.

I have never seen this kit from Auer.. However, it looks to be the same as the OEM kit.

I to am planning to go the with LED headlights over the HID as well.. looking at reviews and pics of the HID's they seem to scatter too much light.. The LEDs seem to have a much better cutoff.

How is the light output over stock?

McDonough Toyota of the SET region sells these kits for a lot less, under $300 while other places sell them for almost $400.

Sounds like more light is reaching high enough upwards to the level of street signs to be reflected back. This is also known as glare....

Glare by definition is subjective meaning dependent on how well a person sees an image and the level of discomfort. So with all things being the same vs stock (angle) and ambient conditions, if I can see street signs better then it's not glare but an improvement in visibility for me.

Looks good. I just ordered led for my low beams and fog. By any chance do you have pics of the hook up or how/where you placed the small power things for the leds?
