Do you find the interior lighting in your 4Runner to be very dim and sub-par? Good news - you don't have to fumble in the dark anymore, because you can upgrade your lighting to LED for improved visibility.

If you're working with a newer 4Runner and want a full set of these for interior/exterior conversion, you will need a total of 3 of the 3022 Festoon bulbs (Dome and Luggage Compartment Lights), as well as 5 pairs of the 194s (Map, Door, Vanity Mirror, and License Plate Lights).

As for the Side Mirrors - check our Vehicle Lighting Guide. If you don't see them listed there under your Year/Make/Model, then you may need to check with your Owner's Manual and/or the currently installed bulbs to be sure of the type you need.

While I've been a fan of your HID kits, I've got to wonder about the small LED's. Honestly if you're comparing yourself to the Philips LED's, then you're measuring yourself at a disadvantage. I tried the Philips 194's, and while brighter than stock, they were nowhere near as bright as most other manufacturers out there. Admittedly we frequently get what we pay for, and I've had issues with most of my small LED's since installation. Issues aside, I've still never gone back to the Philips LED's for the light output difference. The Philips 3022 festoons weren't even as bright as the OEM incandescent! Welcome to the small LED market, but I was hoping your bar would have been set a little higher.

While Philips' LED replacement bulbs are not the "brightest", they're certainly very reliable. Philips designed their bulbs with a "Forget and replace" mentality - change them out once, and you're done.

I agree with you though, they do need to be a bit brighter. Which is specifically why we adopted Philips' "OEM" style mentality for reliability, but used ceramic bulb bodies instead of plastic in order to get more light. Ceramic can withstand higher environment temperatures, hence you can push the diode a little hotter without having a negative effect on the longevity of the bulb.

Our bulbs are certainly not the "brightest" - nor do we claim that they are. Our goal was to design a bulb that meets and/or exceeds OEM specifications in terms of light output and longevity -- it's a balance.

Steve - I pulled this from the 3022 description on your website.

"Their high CRI rating also ensures you don't get unnatural greenish tones -- highly unwanted."

They are described as having high CRI (Color Rendering Index) but I do not see the actual specification. Do you know what it is? Hoping for a CRI at least in the mid-80s.

Can you also provide the CRI for the 194 lamps?
 
Will these fade in and out without flicker? I've seen video of folks in 4runners where the lights flicker when they fade on and I can't handle that.

Thanks for providing that info, Steve. I was not aware that the "automotive standard" for LEDs used for interior lighting was that low. But that is consistent with my perceptions from seeing a variety LED retrofit lamps on the market and the reason I have not changed mine out.

I like the increased light output but need more color contrast provided by higher CRI light sources. I know lumen output takes a hit by moving up in CRI, along with a marginal increase in cost but if a lamp was still significantly brighter than the incandescent with 85+ CRI, I'd make the switch.

I need a little help here.

I ordered the interior light swap kit, and everything was going great until I got to the map lights and courtesy door lights.

The white part of the 194 LED bulb housing is too big to go in the sockets.

I wiggled, I jiggled, I pushed, I flipped (the bulb, not me... :nod:) to no avail. :(

I have a 2018 TRD Off Road Premium.

Pic below for map light. The original light went back in perfectly, I tried both of them 3x.

What do I do!?! Thanks!

This is very odd! our 194/T10 bulbs are designed to be a direct replacement for the OE units, and because of how common they are, we ship a ton of them.

That said, if you never got this to work, please feel free to reach out at [email protected] and we'll gladly exchange them or accept a return.
