Hi Guys,

As per your posts:

EEtM33t: Both XT-4k-H11 and XT-4k-H11p (Philips bulbs) use the Xtreme ballasts. None of our HID conversion kits use Philips ballasts anymore for the reasons posted above. The two kits are literally identical. The only difference would be the bulb. The ballasts and wiring are exactly the same.

Those are the correct fitments to upgrade the highs and fogs. I would be aware of the following things though if you are considering upgrading the hig beams:

1) HID bulbs take a moment to warm up and reach their desired light output. In situations where you require a quick burst of light your HID high beams will not be very functional.

2) It is strenuous on the components to be turned on/off repeatedly ie: flashing people. Doing so will cause them to burn out prematurely.


Doubledown4x4: You do not have to worry about any error codes asa result of the 35W draw.

In response to the high beam issue, do you have any suggestions as to alternatives to HID bulbs? I am essentially looking for more light and more effective and functional visibility.

Hi,

We do sell performance halogen bulbs which will offer you a crisper color output. Some customers feel that this "crisper" color appears to be brighter due to the way it illuminates the road. However, the bulbs are still 55W so I cannot say that you will actually see a hugh increase in light output. I would stay away from higher wattage halogen bulbs though as you run the risk of damaging your headlights and/or wiring.

Upgrading your lows and fogs to HID though will provide you with a hugh increase in light output which may be sufficient for you in combination with a halogen high beam.

Are you referring to a kit like the ones below?

If so, the base of a D2S HID capsule is for an OEM HID housing/application or if you were to retrofit an HID projector into your headlights. If you ordered a kit that's a 9006 (for your low beam or fogs), that's a rebased HID capsule making it a plug and play application for your OEM halogen housings. The burner of the HID capsule is matched to the filament of a halogen bulb for proper lighting and beam pattern and the base matches the halogen. That's pretty much the difference between a rebased capsule vs D2S.

V8Limited4wd- All our kits use D2S bulbs. The "D2S" kits though come with unmodified D2S bulbs that will not work with your set up given that your headlights use a 9006 bulb. The kit you ordered comes with D2S bulbs that have been rebased with 9006 bases so that you can use them in your application.

Steve,

I presume the installation for the low beams and the fog lights will be different considering the low beams on the 2007 are projector and the fog lights use reflectors.
How accurate and helpful are the instructions for the Phillips kits in regards to the difference between the installation of each?

If you're using a rebased HID plug and play kit, it'll be the same. The lowbeam projectors will have a H11 base and the fogs will be a 9006.

A standard D2S bulb will not fit int your headlamp as your vehicle uses an H11 halogen bulb. Our HID kits use D2S bulbs that have been rebased with H11 bases. Essentially, the standard D2S base gets removed and replaced with an h11 base. The capsule portion gets laser aligned in the H11 base so that the focal point of the HID bulb sits in the same spot as the focal point of the halogen bulb. This is how your OEM beam pattern gets replicated.

Considering the prior statements regarding flashing being bad for the HID bulbs and the fog lights turning off when high beams are flashed, can you provide any resources as to how I can have the fog lights remain on when the high beams are either turned on or flashed for the sake of extending the life of the fogs?

HID Question

I currently have a cheap-o HID kit for my fogs and they seem to work intermittently. I think water might have something to do with it, but if I purchase the HID kit from XenonDepot, will i have the same issue, with it gettin wet and not functioning? and I would like to use the $94.99 kit, if possible

This is a great question considering the different installation required for the fogs... I was concerned as to this issue as well.
Uneek - how did you install the components for your fogs? If I recall correctly they are from Steve.

Hi Guys,

Uneek is using our 3000k Xtreme HID Kit.

Our Volt ballasts are completely sealed. They will not be affected by water/moisture. Depending on the ballasts that you have they may draw a lot of power upon start up. We have tested out many ballasts that have intermittent starting problems but this is usually a result of high amperage draw upon start up as opposed to moisture.
