05 4runner ....want this hid conversion....which one is it exactly?

XT-4k-9006 9006 / HB4 4300k Xtreme Xenon HID Conversion Kit ???

i understand they are on sale right now? 174.99? that is everything i need? the conversion kit and the bulbs? how long do these bulbs last on average?

i see its for the low beams? do people not do the highs too? is it pointless? what would i buy for the high beams...or does that even exist?

You have the correct kit for your low beams. The Xtreme Digital kit comes with everything you need including the (IMO, important) wiring harness.

The HID capsules should last the life of the 4Runner.

Most people and OEMs don't put HIDs in to the highbeam because it's very strenuous for HID components to be burn on and off rapidly and repeatedly, i.e. flashing. If you want an HID kit for your high beams, get a 9005 kit. OEMs that have HIDs for high beams are a Bi-Xenon system. There's a servo in the projector that moves the shield to alter the beam pattern to acheive high beams.

You can't go wrong with Steve and XenonDepot.

As per your questions:

1) 810moto - The bulbs ship directly from Putco so shipping rates are pretty much passed onto the customer. Please place your order online for the bulbs and I will do my best to help you out. I can definitely get you a 15% discount on the bulbs however I will have to wait to see what Putco charges me for the shipping once I issue the PO to them before I can discount the shipping. Margins are very tight on the Putco products.

3) navyjonathan - Uneek pretty much nailed it. 9006 would be the right fitment to upgrade the low beams on your vehicle to HID. Make sure to use coupon code "T4R" upon checkout to save $25 on your order. For the high beams, I also would not suggest upgrading them to HID. You can however consider upgrading your fog lights to HID for more light output. Some of our customers order these Putco Mirror White bulbs to upgrade the color output of their halogen high beams.

so to get the fogs like santas above, the yellow, no kit is needed, just the bulbs....correct?


but for the low beams you need the harness and kit.

These forums actually helped me decide where to get my lights and I thank yall for that. Decided it was time to finally register and join the club.

I do have a question for Steve though.

Steve I ordered the 6000k H11 HID kit and it came in very timely manner. It was well packaged, and I appreciate the gloves in the kit too. Thank you!

I noticed when I was installing the kit on my 2006 4runner limited that two of the plugs (the ones with two prongs) in your kit that must connect to each other have the retention clips on the wrong side of the plug. I have used some electrical tape to ensure they stay together. Is that okay? Plugging them in with the retention clips meeting results in lights that do not turn on.

Antilogic81: You most likely just need to reverse the polarity on the wires as your vehicle has reversed polarity. I can email you pics on how to do this. Please send me an email to [email protected] requesting the info and I will forward you the information.

highspeed - We do not have a "kit" for your vehicle however I can definitely help you get the bulbs that you would need:

Map Lights - Your vehicle uses a 168 bulb for the map lights meaning that you would need to get 1 pair of 194 LED bulbs (they are sold in pairs).

Step/Courtesy Lights - Your vehicle uses a 194 bulb for the door lights meaning that you would need to get 1 pair of 194 LED bulbs (they are sold in pairs).

Trunk/Dome Light - Your vehicle uses a 3175 bulb for these applications meaning that you would need to get our 3175 LED upgrade bulb. These are sold individually so you would need to get 2 bulbs.

I rarely write on forums (I prefer to read and laugh at some of the comments - some of you guys are hilarious), but I had to make an exception for Steve at XenonDepot.

A few months back, I sold my G35 for an GX470. I love that car, but with a baby on the way, a great dane, and a boxer, it just wasn't going to cut it. Long story short, I was horrified by the headlights, so I began reading and decided to go with an H11 set from Steve.

My experience was fantastic! I wanted the kit before this weekend, so I sent Steve an email last Sunday night to see if that was possible (I had not ordered anything yet). Then, on Monday, the craziest thing happened...he actually called me to get the details so he could make sure the kit got to me in time. The lights are now installed (less than a week later) and I have a big fat smile on my face.

I am in sales, so a lot of what I do is centered around customer service. I know how difficult it is to maintain a high level of service the way Steve has for years (I think he has been getting rave reviews since 2004 on this site). In a world where it is so easy to hit "Reply" in your email and type away, he went old school on me and picked up a phone. Thank you very much Steve.

As for the new HID setup...well, they look exactly like those on my G35...which is awesome! I was going to do a step by step with pictures like Tony did way back when, but I didn't want to get blood on the camera - I was clumsy as hell and dropped the battery on my fingers. Why the heck does the Lexus battery not have a handle!? Haha.

Questions:

For optimal results retrofitting with HID projectors (not the 2006+ projectors) will give you the best results and minimal glare.

I have an 04 with stock lights (reflector housings?). I would like to do a HID upgrade and noticed a lot of people replace the housings with projection housings. It looks like they are $200+ on eBay or junk yard. Is it really worth the difference upgrading to these?

Hi,

If you can get the headlights for cheap enough I would do it. The factory projectors will get you an overall beam pattern. All you would need to do is order an H11 HID kit from us and send me a PM with your order number once you place your order. This way I can swap out the wiring that comes with the H11 HID conversion kit for 9006. This way you will get a kit that has H11 bulbs (to fit in the new headlights) and a 9006 harness to plug into your factory harness.
