If anybody has ever successfully added an auxiliary input (like RCA inputs) to the stock head unit of a 2003 4Runner, I would really love to know how. Apparently none of the Toyota auxiliary input adapters made by Blitzsafe, Soundgate, PIE, etc. work for the 2003 4Runner. Very frustrating... :thumbdwn:

I talked to Chris at Blitzsafe this week and they are just waiting on the new 2003 HU adapters to be shipped before they can begin production on their new interface for adding XM via a set of RCAs......that is what I am told.....now lets see if they can deliver.

Ok, Let me give you guys my exp with XM. I have had Xm in several of my past cars. In my Tundra I replaced the factory hu with a Alpine system with xm integrated. I liked it, but didnt like the non factory hu look. I recently purchased a 04 Sport. I went through some withdrawls not having my xm. I decided that I wanted to keep the factory hu. I have the JBL 10 spkr system. I purchased the Delphi skyfi. Very easy to install. The hardest part was finding a good spot to put it. Every place I found there was always a negative to it: In front of the shifter-then the compartment was non useable. I finally decided to put it just under the hazard lights switch. It was the only place that I could find that was feasible. It is perfect in the fact it is at the right height and angle to push the buttons. I find myself really not using the remote very much. I will try to post a pic for yall.

Hey sports fans, my wife ran into what I think is a great deal on an XM radio package at

I think that it's a good deal because it comes with the Skyfi receiver, FM Modulator, Car Kit, and Boom box for $239.00. I estimated in researching this project that the cost of this package, through someone like best buy, would be around $340.00.
So the ole Spousal Unit found a hell of a deal.
Now all that I need to do is get out of A$$ghanistan, and maybe I can finally have fun with our new Toy.

At first i thought it was crazy idea, but now i love it. stuff the commander in flip down sunglass holder. You will actually be able to use the XM and read it while you drive! you can find some pics here:

slightly when its down, but 90% of the time I keep it on station 47, so i flip the thing up and forget about it. This reciever will automatically turn on when your car starts, so need to power up everytime you start your car like the delphi.

XM is better than Sirius when I compared the type of music I like- new rock, metal and trance.

I've been using the Roady 2 receiver for several years and love it. I bought several years subscription for $8/month.
The reception is great and I never have a problem even using it in the house with a different antenna.
I swap it with different vehicles and just use the cassette adapter in one and will be using the PIE-TOY AUX converter in the 4Runner. (gonna hook it up this weekend along with hardwire power to it's location)
It mounts on the vent louvers of both vehicles and it's a nice clean spot and easy to see.
I'll post pics after the install of the Aux is done. I ran the wires for the antenna down the driver side of the windshield and mounted the antenna near the sunroof. Other people have mounted antennas toward the rear and run the wire up under the carpet.

Well, I realize it may not look as cool, or have as much display capacity, but I just finished an install of the Toy factory XM kit.
It's not cheap (about $250 for the tuner and fit kit.). ANd it took me all day to do the install (total disassembly of one side of interior). But all wiring is now fully integrated into the vehicle, unit is totally out of sight, and my stock head unit has satellite capability.
This set up gives you 1 line of text at a time. The usual XM channels, 3 Sat sets (AM - SAT1, SAT2, SAT3) Each one has 6 presets so you get 18 presets total.
Overall, a very nice product, though pricey.

That sounds sweet!! the only reason I used the Roady is so I don't have to pay for more than one subscription!- I take it out of the car and just plug it into the aux of my stereo at home and @ work. It must be nice though to have it all in the HU!! Does it tell you the artist and song name like the external ones?
