XM Radio

Anyone installed XM Radio on their '03 4Runner?
What do people think about XM?

Never much thought about installing one, because I'm just not enamored with the XM stations they play at the gym. If I want to hear the same 20 tunes hour after hour, I'll tape them or listen to the "top 40" radio stations and save the $10/month.

I don't see the justification to pay $10 a month for something you basically can get a flat fee of a radio, cd's, mp3 player, etc. But to answer your question, someone that works at my company has one and it just plugs into his cigarette lighter and an apapter to the radio and he loves it.

I have XM in my 4runner. I really like it. You can stay on the same station from east to west coast without losing the station(unless you go under tunnels). I always hear songs that I havent heard for a long time. Yeah I know CD's are good and you can have 20 CD's in your car (like I do), but those songs get old after a while. Plus I do not mind paying 8 dollars a month, price of 2 expresso or lattes from Starbucks. my 2 cents

I have Sirius installed, i think it was 12 something a month, but if you pay 1 year it was 145 or so but if you subscribe for 2 years there is a like 12 bucks off.

I'm looking at the new DELPHI XM Radio ROADY.
It is cheaper since you dont need the car kit!

Circuit City told me:
$120 for DELPHI XM Radio ROADY
$50 for FM Modulator
$50 for install

What y'all think?

The Roady is cool and smaller. I would get that, but there is nothing wrong with my SkyFi right now, so no reason. As for where I installed it here is a photoshoped picture since I am at work.

I heard they offer the Playboy channel on that thing. The Playboy channel in my opinion is boring as it is visually, what is so interesting about it on XM? I am really curious.

Iman74, goto the forum http://www.xmfan.com/index.php and they have a ton of comparisions between XM, Sirius, FM, etc. I just know some of my friends have left Sirius, because of programming issues and weak playlist. But everyone has their opinions. I think XM now has over 1million subscibers while Sirius has a few hundred thousand. Plus more vechicles and stereo manufactors support XM over Sirius. Like Toyota, GM, Ford, Sony, Pioneer, etc for example. I think that XM will last longer because they have more disposible income.

No thanks, XM radio does not interest me at all. I was just curious why people would pay to listen to the Playboy channel.

Iman74, I have no idea why anyone would pay to listen to the Playboy channel. That would be a waste of $$$$. And jgrimbal here are some pics from my not so good digital camera. I am not totally done with this setup. But my SkyFi unit fits perfectly behind that front storage thing. Mine came off easy, you do not even have to force it out. I think it was made to come out, well anyways here is my semicomplete XM radio setup.

I do not have a 4Runner yet.

As for the XM, they are a decent system, but I do not like the idea of clutter with the SkyFi system and such.

I know a few people who have just taken out the HU and replaced it with one that accepts XM/Surius and it looks much cleaner.
