Let me rephrase what i said... I hope they don't close the 5 due to severe weather on our drive to and from washington. It'd be great if it snows as long as they keep the roads open. I see there are lots of t4r members making the same trip. Everyone drive safely. Good journey.

oh ha. yeah not sure. you know how the NW gets w. snow. freak out about an inch.

Since you lived in Seattle you should know that it doesnt rain as often as in New York, Houston, or even Miami. It's the continuous days of grey that get to people, but that shouldnt prevent you from going outside.
I'm glad you left Seattle and found somewhere you like better.

im SO glad i left too. seattle is a great area to visit dont get me wrong. there are a lot of cool people there and things to do. just the weather was less then great.

ill bring this topic back to its place.
i am now concernced that i might need snow chains. what do you all think. i have nitto terragrappler 265-70-17 with about 40k miles on em. tread still looks pretty good, but definitely doesnt look new. i know that they dont have the snowflake symbol on it but ive heard they as well or better than other a/t tires with the snowflake. i also have a stock spare with the stock dunlop.
will i need the chains? will the chains fit with my upsized tires? btw, i also have cornfed 2/1 lift. were leaving in a couple days.

Dude just fly! It's horrendous anywhere in the NW right now! I just flew into WA from Las Vegas and we are FREEZING! The roads are horrible and you are nuts to try to drive in Seattle with snow on the roads. Even all-wheel drive vehicle with chains slide all over those hills. If you're worried about your chains fitting do a dry run with them on first. The only problem I can think of is them hitting the UCA at lock or the wheel well liner.

Wouldn't chains hurt your traction on ice though?
I mean I would guess chains would help some on really deep snow, but you have some very decent tires for snow, I'd be more worried about ice traction....

I'd measure the tread depth and go from there. If it was me taking a long trip through bad weather and my tires were borderline, I'd replace them before you leave.
