xreas replacement - shock vs shock/spring replacement

Removing the XREAS system really isn't hard. A couple extra nuts is all. I wasn't going to reuse any of it, so I used bolt cutters and a few catch pans to make removing the hard lines easier.

Since the XREAS is really just the shocks, you CAN reuse the factory springs, but springs are relatively inexpensive and probably sag some. You can buy replacement shocks for something like $30 a piece from Autozone, if you really want to keep the price down. You're old springs will work with them. You'll just have to swap the springs/top hats in the front.

Hi, I'd like to improve the ride in my 2004 Limited a bit better and I think shocks might be next up.

I see several people recommend to replace just the shocks and others say replace the shocks and springs.

Our 4runner is just used as a daily driver/kid hauler. What is exactly the difference with replacing the springs or not?

short answer is the springs weaken over time so replacing the springs give it a little more stiffness and support.

if its a daily kid hauler then no need fore springs as any softness it has gained from age just softens the ride some when hitting bumps. just my 2 1/2 cents
