XREAS Replacement

Sweet! I will have to search that one out! I probably have read part of it and didn't even know. There is soooo much on here about XREAS. It's almost too much information, if there is such a thing when it comes to our awesome vehicles. Thanks so much for posting!

It's a firmer ride, but if I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it once. The 6112s are height adjustable and come with springs.

I have been trying to find time to get my 2003 4Runner over to my mechanic to do the following setup

Front:
Bilstein 5100 height adjustable in the front set to .85
2017 4Runner Trail Springs (Used with 500 miles)

Rear
Bilstein 5100
2017 4Runner Trail Springs (Used with 500 Miles)

I am hoping to get a minimal lift, something along the lines of factory plus along with getting the thing to sit level.

I have some 1.5" Daystar rear spacers that if my mechanic says no lift was achieved i'll have him set the front to 1.75 and put the 1.5" spacer in the back. I am assuming though that my 103k mile original suspension has settled enough where new springs will pump up the ride front and rear around an inch.

I looked a few days ago, but please refresh me-- is the 6112 setup a one-stop shop for everything you need or do you still have to purchase other parts here and there?

Nice! I am looking for a little bit of a lift since I'm hauling trailers in rough pastures quite often and she spends a fair bit of time on bumpy old roads, gravel, and offroad. Not offroading, per se, but just off the road in fields. I need the clearance. Go for it! Sounds like you know what you want and are ready to pull that trigger! Post pics when you get it done, mate!

Xreas

talking about Xreas.

I just replaced my 2 rears, w/ same OEM Xreas, from the dealer last week.
still observing & it seems so far so good.

I did retained the Xreas system because I want my t4r to be all original stock.
I dunno if this a good move.

my next project is on the 2 front shocks.

any suggestions pls?

thanks,..

jesus h. christ... dealer installed xreas in this day & age... who does that? you can always install eibachs or bilsteins and just burn the remainder you would have spent at the dealer.

What'd that run you? And if you're keeping XREAS, you'll have to replace the fronts with OEM as well - the system requires all four shocks.

Anyone ever gone the simple route? Bilstein 4600's (Blue&Yellows, $354/4), reuse stock springs, maybe put in a spacer up front to level?

I've not heard of anyone doing it. I just received my Cornfed 3/2 lift kit and will further inspect my aging XREAS to see if I should just save and then rip it out and replace with 5100's with FJ springs.

Would be better to get the 5100's and adjust the spring seat and skip the leveling kit. And if decide in the future to get lift springs they will work with those too.

If you have rear air ride you will need springs too.

Maybe. I was thinking simple and cheap using just the 1" Burtman front spacer. I have fairly new, stock sized tires, and I really don't want a "lift" so I'm just looking for something simple and stout. I will not be looking to lift now, or in the future.

I know. bilstein was on my mind though,. but on the last minute, I said to myself, lemme try the same- on stock, xreas shocks.
there's no leak on the front though. but I will replace those eventually.

I should had, but since there's no leak on the front, I did the rear because one of the rear just broke down.
im just wondering what kind of a fluid was that running to the tubes of the xreas system.

xreas to 5100's

im still observing & thinking what is to be done, if my 2 front shocks will be gone & done.
should I replace it with xreas (so, I can hav the xreas all throughout) or 5100's on all four?

Xreas to Bilstein and FJ springs

Removed the Xreas system on my '03 Ltd last summer and installed the 4600 Bilsteins and FJ springs all around, very happy with results.

I did 5100 bilsteins up front and set it to 0.85. Kept the stock springs.
I did 4600 Bilsteins in the rear and kept my RAS.

All thanks to the information I found on this forum!

I saw this as the easiest option at the time. The ride is awesome and I have no regrets. I can upgrade as I go, but the 4runner is capable as is for my needs so I will sticking with this setup for the time being.

If the RAS dies then I may consider FJ Spring/5100 all around.

Why is 5100 not usable with rear RAS?

Why can't is use 5100's in the rear and keep my RAS? I presume you mean an aftermarket air-bag for inside the rear springs. The shocks are external to the springs in the rear, of course. (05 4Runnr Limited 4WD) Thank you

Yeah, don't worry about it. You can replace the rear shocks and leave your RAS alone. That's what I did, except I went with the 5160s in the rear.
