Hell yeah! Those tires look real nice!

Thanks dude!

Looks great! I think having the spacers on...specifically for the rear might benefit a wider stance look. Other then that looks good. What is your plan for washer fluid?

It almost fully clears at ride height, so I've been driving it around today. I did accidentally full lock left in a parking lot and it made a horrible noise lol

Probably going to follow the SilverRhinoMedia guide on relocate: 4Runner windshield washer tank relocation — Silver Rhino Media

I found the same reservoir they used at a local Advance Auto, so I didn't have to wait on Amazon. I'm not particularly thrilled with the smaller volume of fluid, but we'll see how it goes. There is also this one I found with visually a little more capacity, but not actually listed: Amazon.com: Dorman 54002 Engine Coolant Recovery Kit: Automotive

And for rear stance, I do have 1.75" Bora Spacers so maybe I'll toss them on the rear to see how it looks. I do like the front of how flush it is, skinny tires look kinda funny to me with poke. but little poke is sometimes good for not crushing fenders on trees if its slippery.

Ta da! No more rubbing at full bump lock to lock (except for the wiper fluid reservoir. Going to work on that this afternoon

I think the +15 offset suits these tires well, they're flush or maybe 1/2" poked. The skinnies don't look good with too much negative offset

Still getting used to the skinny look in the rear

Nice! Look at all that wonderful clearance under there! It looks good as well!

Dude yes those look super tough! My next set of tires for sure, although it’ll be a while.

Thank man! 35" really is a visually nice size for the 4th gen

Looks great man. The front especially. Rear will take some getting used to for sure, lol. Your tires are about the same width as mine, but 3" taller... that rear looks uh, odd. :P

I wonder if it would be possible to put the same diameter but a wider tire on the rear? Should be a lot easier to fit, right? If it's not possible for some reason (probably the case, I know nothing but what I've learned here and from my dad) that would make sense. Wheel spacers might help, I dunno. I'm gonna do 1.25 spidertrax on mine all the way around at some point.

Those are definitely the tallest skinnies I've yet seen.

Went camping at Flagpole Knob in VA. This is one of the most memed "trails" in VA FB groups. Its essentially a Forest Service Road with a lot of loose rocks, some mud, and some medium sized ones up at the top. "Can I take 'x' truck with 'x' lift/tires up flagpole?" is asked almost as frequently as "What lift do I need to clear 'x' tires?". Also went with a smaller group that ended up being part of larger group, and there were a lot of people up at the campsite. Nevertheless, it was a fun time!

Patrick skid plate sneaking through

Turns out Tacomaholic actually lives pretty close to me. He took this pic of Patrick at the top. Unfortunately, he didn't suffer any damage. I was kinda hoping he got a taste of rock lol

And heres one I took at the top during the sunrise. I slept in the trunk for the first time, and that is definitely the move. Previously I'd used a tent which I don't mind setting up and taking down when its dry, but it misted during the night and cleaning up a wet tent sucks. Inside, I moved all my crap to one side and put a 2" mattress topper on the other side. The 2" topper was a little on the thin side, but not terrible. I also opened a window, draped a bug net over the door, and close the door to hold it in.

And a little video taken by a buddy that shows my Patrick Star Skid Well!

not sure why there is this big gap under the embedded video

Sliders Ordered!
Ordered the 4xInnovations Weld-on DOM sliders with square main tube. 3-4 week lead time, so we'll see
We'll need to meet up one of these days! I'm in Fredericksburg at the moment, but from Harrisonburg and I believe we've talked about Blacksburg in the past. If you wanna use the skid on Flagpole, you can always just take the wrong line :D

Yep 35x12.5 is the normal size for "35s". 315/70r17 will also get referred to as "35s" and they're about 34.4x12.4. At least on paper. Everything is smaller in actuality than their listed diameters. These 35x10.5s are skinny, which does take a little getting eyeballs used top.

Skinny tires are much easier to fit up front than wide tires. For example, with 35x12.5 you'd want like -25 offset (whether that be with spacers or offset wheels) to be able to clear the frame up front at full lock and also the UCAs and full lock. In turn, this increases the wheels scrub radius and needs a little extra clearancing than I had to do. I'm on stock 5th gen +15 wheels without any spacers, and the skinny tires clear the frame. I didn't even chop the body mounts lol

Rear tires the width isn't as big of a concern, since they're not turning

Drift Monkey has 35x12.5r17s, so this is what the full width tire would look like

Yeah for sure dude! I'm trying to pick out weekends I'll have free for wheeling around schedules for marching band, school, and work so I'll let you know. Sept 4 and Sept 18 are looking potentially free

Go figure, I'm busy both of those lol

DANG!
Its like a perfect combo of wheel and tire...i allways like those rims.

To big for my taste, i like the looks of the 33x10.5... but, well, DAMN...that 35 looks pretty good.

I really like the 285/75/16 Kenda Klever m/t i have had.

Waiting for the off-road report...

Devils advocate...
Did you mention a HG deal?

Just a feel/impression i have had.
When i would get into deep snow, really working the motor...4x4, low.
I seemed to loose more than average coolant level, before i did that SteelSeal.
Thought it might have been due to the pressure/resistances.
Weak HG...more throttle...more pressure...more leak.

/cheers

Thanks, I do like how it looks too! These are my favorite Toyota wheels, so I'm going to hang onto them as long as I can. I was actually just looking for a matching spare and they want $130+ on eBay, ooof. Will definitely give off road report and type up all the trimming I did.

Yep they're big! surprisingly easy to fit due to the skinniness. Hammered the pinch weld, trimmed the inner fender, and took a little bit off of the front cover.

Yes had a HG scare like 2k miles ago. Had pending cyl4 miss code (But not true code with CEL) for a day or two and then it missed on startup for a few seconds one day. Still never tripped a full on code and CEL. Ever since then, no problems. I am keeping an eye on coolant levels, temps, and such. We'll see if there are any more problems in the future, but fingers crossed

Offroad, I use 4lo almost all the time. Definitely helps to have engine rpms up to keep temps down, and trans temps down as well

Picked up these bad boys for $200 out the door. Was fully expecting (and kinda hoping) I'd have to pull myself, but they were already on the shelf. From an 07 FJ. Completely forgot about the other things I was wanting to get because these came with some unexpected goodies. Mirrors were really just for the thrill of the junkyard experience since there are cheap ones online, but one more OEM CV axle would be nice so I have a complete pair of replacement axles

For $200 out the door I got
 • 2 spindles with zero rust
 • 2 wheel bearings (which I'd just keep as oh shit spares, but they are in good condition)
 • 2 dust shields in mint condition (not sure if 319 or 338mm shields, but 338 would be cool if I ever upgraded to the larger size)
 • 2 wheel speed sensors and wiring harnesses
 • All the brake line brackets with no rust
 • 2 halves of a sway bar link lol

I then bought the JD fab spindle gussets to weld on

My 4xInnovation sliders also showed up, so gotta find time to buzz those on

Still have a little backlog of stuff to type up:
 • Suspension Writeup - half done and I haven't touched it in weeks
 • Trim rear cover and type what I did to fit the 35x10.5s
 • Poor Eagle Jack mod to HF 1.5ton

Are you gonna do the JD steering kit as well?

I thought about it, but I don't know if I'm quite to that level yet. I'm also not a fan of heims on a daily driver because ball joints are just easier to maintain lol.

Worst comes to worst, I could retrofit it afterwards, since the double shear tab is a separate piece. Although I have heard its harder to drill once the spindles have been welded on

I have TC gussets and have been considering the kit. My rig already sounds like a cabinet full of pots and pans going down the road anyway lol.
