Yankees vs Phillies

When I'm not rooting for the Rangers, I normally root for the Yankees, don't know why, but I have always liked them - I guess I look at them as the traditional team for what baseball has always been about. Down 3-1 to the Yanks is going to be hard to overcome for the Phillies.
 
My wife who is for the Yankees is concerned because she wants to watch the game tonight, but she also wants to watch Monday night football, Atlanta is playing New Orleans. I said no problem, watch the football game for 20 minutes and we will be so far behind, we can change the channel. :bluejump:
 
Yayyyy,baseball is over and now SportsCenter will have more time for football.:reddance:

Good series tho' and while it is number 27 for the Yanks they've only won 7 in the last 40 years which is still very good in the modern era of baseball.

Yeah, I am into football, but it was neat to see Hideki Matsui have 3 hits in a row and 6 RBI's. Wow, it was actually fun to watch, even if it isn't football.

Yeah, the whole payroll argument doesn't hold water, but the Yankees haters will use it every chance they get. But the fact of the matter is that if the biggest payroll paid for a World Series win, then the Yankees would have won every World Series in this decade, not just two of them.

Nope. I am saying that it cost alot more to produce a team with heart cuz heart always wins. This year the Yanks had more heart than the Phils. In that cold arrogant ass climate of the baseball world known as NYC it will always take more $. Dig? Anyway you guys threw a nice parade party. back to the basics in Spring. Don't wait up next year...........it's not about winning it's about heart. ask anybody outside of NYC...........:gun5:

Okay, but my take on it is a bit different. I think it's all about talent, with a little bit of luck thrown in for good measure. Put the most talented team on the field, and if they don't run into a string of bad luck, then they will win. It's also very important to have good pitching, as any baseball fan knows that good pitching can neutralize the best hitters in the league. This year the Yanks were short of their 4th reliable starting pitcher, so Girardi had to do the best he could to schedule his three reliable starting pitchers. That was the only worry that I had for the playoffs because I knew that the Yankees had the offense and defense to beat any other team in baseball. I don't give "heart" too much credit when it comes to winning it all.

Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard. Yanks worked harder. I think the Phils were way more talented. The Yankees played like a team enjoying the game and they won. Agree with you on the pitching.
