Yaris stereo on my 3rd gen

So I was inside of a rental Yaris, a 2015 and it had a pretty clean stereo. It was double din and touch screen and I thought... Wow that would look great in my 02.

Has anyone ever done anything new like this. Can I even squeeze the radio in my 3rd gen and would they make the pig tails for it or would I just have to solder everything myself.

Anyways, the model number is AXCP-Q15U

You seem to have good spelling and grammar, yet don't use question marks- is there any reason why?
I've noticed this trend quite a bit recently, and I'm trying to figure out why people have been omitting the question mark at the end of a "question".
I THINK you're asking if this system will be able to be installed in your 4Runner, but- by the way it's written- there really is any question asked...

That outta the way, a quick Google search turns up pages of pictures.
The mounting points actually look like the mounting points on 4Runner head unit brackets.

Can't tell you it will fit/work, but I am very familiar with the Toyota truck head unit brackets, and- from the little I can see from the pics posted- they look the same.
I vote you buy one and give it a shot [emoji481]

It LOOKS like it'll fit, but with no reference objects it's hard to see the true size. If you get a couple measurements I'll compare them with the scion headunit I have sitting in my garage. Those are known to work.
 
The chassis whether single din or double din, will fit. Also, the front face seems to be a standard din size vs oversize.

Having said that, mounting brackets from your 3rd gen can simply be transferred to the new radio (which is most likely a Pioneer btw).

Toyota power/speaker harnesses have been the same since the '80s so there should be no change and since it's just a regular radio, plug 'n' play.

Can you post a pic of the rear of both decks for us to verify?
 
Don't forget about the MIC install as well for the BT. I am subscribed as well. This goes as planned I'm doing this.
 
Not sure about the Yaris, but my Rav4's double Din radio won't fit my 3rd gen 4runner's double din slot. The Rav4 unit is the same height, but the faceplace is wider/longer.

Incidentally, this is the same base unit that the 4th gen 4Runner has, so a 4th Gen 4runner unit wont fit a 3rd gen 4runner.

However, a 3rd gen unit (or most any aftermarket unit) will fit a Rav4 or 4th Gen 4Runner. You'll simply need to buy faceplate slot fillers.
 
Not sure about a 2015 yaris but I grabbed one from a 2007 Scion TC from pick-n-pull. Swapped brackets from old head unit to the new, they bolted on, direct plug in. Had to shave about a 3/16 of an inch off the sides of the opening to fit it, but it came out nice and has the color change face to match dash lights! Plus if you don't want it to say Scion on the face, a little bit of nail polish remover and a magic eraser.

Looks good! I have been thinking about installing a Scion/Corolla radio in my 2001 4Runner. I really like the one in my 2006 4Runner.

Thanks. It's been cleaned up a bit since that picture. That was the test run. A bit of black touch up paint along the edges that I cut and centered the radio up before tightening down. A dremel tool with cut off wheel was perfect, Just go slowly and a little bit at a time.
 
So I've been trying to find some measurements from the Yaris deck but I can't seem to find any, plus the unit costs $700 from Toyota

Looks like ill have to look on eBay for a bit
 
I kinda mentioned something like this earlier, but was not very clear. There are 2 standard widths of double din radios: 6.2inch and 7inch.
That looks like a 7 inch (just eyeballing) so it WONT fit our 3rd gen 4runners without trimming the dash bezel as mentioned before.
IMO this is not recommended, because a replacement used bezel costs around $70.

In my experience, brackets will always fit or can easily be made to fit (the metal bars can be bent back). The holes always line up.

I picked up this for the same price as the Yaris stero and I prefer it. It's also a double DIN.

I also give up on why the image rotates when it was fine and correct when I downloaded it. /me sighs.

I finally got around to trying this. I found a non nav Yaris display radio, it was pretty much the same as the Corolla display nav radio I put in my 4th gen
4Runner. The brackets from my old radio fit, I just had to trim part off the front and drill another hole so I would have three bolts holding the bracket on. It went in easy and it looked as if it was going to be fairly easy to trim the radio opening as these radios are wider. BUT, the radio would not go all the way in, it was hitting in the back. These radios are longer than the stock radio and aftermarket double Din radios. So unless anyone knows of a shorter Toyota radio like this, I guess I will go with a aftermarket radio. I really like the look of this style Toyota radio and the one in my 4th gen works great.
 
In my 97 build and repair thread I document installing a T1819 Scion radio into my 97. Including the trimming needed to allow the radio to fit all the way in the hole. If I ever want to go to the newer NAV touch screen with backup camera all I need to do is remove the T1819 and install the newer unit.

My brother had a car of his destroyed for a 30 dollar bling bling Walmart stereo. I like the clean OEM look.
I forgot to mention I liked this so much I installed the same radio in my S Series 2002 Saturn. It works and sounds great.

Here is a picture of it in my Saturn. It needs a few more tweaks.
