Got a mailer today from the local Ford dealership where I sometimes take my T4R for oil changes (they have good coupons and seem to do decent work):

Interesting that a dealer is willing to offer me over $14k for an 8 year old Toyota with 130k on the clock. It's a little weird, actually.

Sure, they'll give you $14K for yours if you agree to get screwed by getting no discount on the new Explorer. Trade-ins just complicate the new vehicle buying process, and it's always to the dealer's advantage.

My Toyota dealer has been sending me letters saying they are willing to give me $XXX over BB. I once got a call from one of them (I go to 2 different yota dealers, one near work and one near where I live) and I told them I would sell them my 4R for $40K. They laughed. I didn't. I proceeded to politely tell them it's not for sale.

I'd take 14,400 if it went towards a truck(preferably a raptor) but you can keep their other models they don't do much for me. That's my opinion of course but I'm not saying they're bad cars.

I think its fair to say that they have electrical problems. Fix or repair daily.

Definitely a ploy to get you on the sales floor. I used to get those letters all the time and just rip them up. I've had enough Fords to know that they *can* be problematic vehicles. Always seems like its luck of the draw lol

wow I never knew that! I honestly just liked the way they looked but I've never looked into them. figures there had to be something to bring them down

The article I linked says the cause was actually long term sustained excessively high speed driving over uneven terrain.

The newer Raptors are pretty sweet. I dont know if they are offering the 6.2 ltr anymore but there is a v-6 coming that I believe is Turbo'd and it is offering 411 horsepower....I'd drive one!
